I read your comment and others on this thread and have, mostly, the same attitude.

But I really want to know....why did Romney go to that meeting? Why did Trump have to meet him in person? If it was just a “mending fences” meeting, why couldn’t they have had an intimate phone call instead of the photo op?

It does not seem, at least to me, that any sort of job offer was made.

I don’t like Romney. He called Trump a fake and a bigot. Romney’s the fake as I see it. He faked being a serious and caring presidential candidate last election. When he is nothing but a political elite posing as something he’s not.

I just wonder who set this all up today.

And why?

I think it may be that a public burying of hatchets was needed. Trump pretends to ask Romney’s opinion of what is needed in some area. Romney is seen being treated cordially. They may hate each others guts but this allows them to work together without friction when necessary. Part of the consolidation of the Republican party behind Trump.

No, I think it shows Romney that “Trump is a better man than you are, Gunga Din”. So shoot me, I kinda’ like Romney, and I think he has qualities that can help this country in whatever capacity Trump chooses to place him. Romney was totally out of the politics game, and it is magnanimous of Trump to recognize Romney’s capabilities and give him an entre back in to politics. Trump is showing his greatness, here, and we can expect more of the same in the next years. Please, God, keep Trump safe from harm.

“Mitt would be good.”

Yeah, it’s time to MAGA and put aside some of the past differences Republicans have had with each other. If the MR that ran the Olympics shows up again there is no reason he cannot be a real asset to the administration.

Yeah, I’m done complaining about MR. If Trump can be the bigger man, then that’s something I can aspire to.
