Bolton...I’d call him the Kissinger for this time
in this case, i’m in complete agreement with rand. just say no to bolton.
I love John Bolton and pray he is appointed secretary of state.
Bolton would be good as UN ambassador, but not as Secretary of State.
Not my favorite, yet he’d be the best one since George Schultz
If Trump hires Bolton he is sending a message that will irritate a lot of the right people.
I don’t think either Bolton or Romney will be Trump’s Secretary of State. I think he’ll pick a mere figurehead to be at State the way JFK picked Dean Rusk as his SOS and Nixon picked William Rogers to be his too while both presidents essentially ran the nation’s foreign policy from the White House. I can picture Trump doing something similiar to what those two presidents did.
Bolton may have a lot of fans here on FreeRepublic, but we also have a lot of folks who have done the research to expose his background.
He would have been a perfect Secretary of State.
For Hillary Clinton.
I have seriously had no problem with those we perceive to be actual Trump hired hands. It seems to me there are two or three jobs in any administration that you could put Bolton as a giant on the world stage.
Rand Paul trying to make himself relevant again. Apple Tree.
Rand Paul, auditioning for a padded cell between Glenn Beck and Nancy Pelosi.
Bolton was formerly involved with the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Federalist Society, National Policy Forum, National Advisory Board, Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, New Atlantic Initiative, Project on Transitional Democracies. - Wikipedia
Given a choice, I’d rather a dog that had to be kept on a tight leash or he chew the ass outa folks than a dog that whimpered at the least fright.
If Bolton fits someplace, he’ll be asked to do it - if not, he won’t ... since when is betraying Rand Paul the same as betraying the voters?
Beats the hell out of Kerry, Clinton, or Condi, that’s for damn sure.
Bolton was a staunch supporter of Israel and a thorn in the side of the U.N. for the entire time he was there.
He’s a good man.
I support him fully.
I listened to Rand Paul last night and basically he believe that Bolton and Giuliani both like war, don’t know how to control themselves, and won’t listen to the president if the president says he is in favor of peace through strength.
Paul likes Corker.
In my mind, Corker has given Iran the nuke and is a testament to “war through weakness”.
Rand is wrong. Peace through strength is the right course of action, and the issue of any nominee is whether or not that nominee will follow the guidance of the president.
Bolton is a war-o-con, especially in the MENA.
We don’t need to be spilling our blood protecting one group of Muslims from another group of Muslims .... forever.
Bolton is a head feint. Trump is still several moves ahead of the so-called Press.
This clown Paul is long on accusations and short on specific examples. The most mindless position in in the political arena is criticizing, and claiming to know with certainty how things might have turned out different (and better) had his opinion prevailed.
What has he EVER opined in foreign affairs that he agreed with that turned out as "expected?" A list would be nice. Of course, after the fact allows Paul to pull a "Hillary," and "forget" all his prognostication failures.
Bottom line, I trust Bolton a LOT more than I trust Paul.
Finally, Bolton is still bound to adhere to Trump's leadership positions, and that of his numerous other advisers that touch on the defense and foreign relations arenas.
