Can’t Trump approve and appoint his candidate if congress goes into recess without a vote?

Use their own rules against them. Especially Saul Alinksy’s Rules for Radicals #4.
4. Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
Like my daddy would say; what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

For the remaining items (SCOTUS and legislation) the GOP should change the filibuster rules to their original configuration, that is one or more people trying to talk the bill or appointment to death, to be overridden by a 2/3 vote. It will be fun to watch the leftoids make spectacles of themselves by reading the phone book or some Dr. Seuss book.

The problem is, those tools are now severely limited. It would fall to Republicans to join Democrats to stand in the way of any Trump appointment deemed objectionable. "Republicans to join Democrats"...you mean, Republicans to reach across the aisle? I can think of some

When Reid forced that change I recall asking “is this a good idea? How will you react when your political opponent has this power?”
To: Eleutheria5
Some may become DINOs. 23 Dem senate seats are up in 2018, 11 in states won by Trump.

You cannot say God Bless to Harry Reid!
Can you? LOL :-)

Don’t count chickens before they hatch. We have more than three Rino senators that can bolt at any time. Notice the MaCinsane bleat today on waterboarding.

We have a slim majority. If anyone like Rand Paul decides to object to someone, theres little to be done. He's against John Bolton for Sec. of State

“I would be hesitant to change rules, just because, if you think longer term, you have to think about how your political opponents would use those rules when they again take power.”
They’d change the rules anyway. They will fight dirty for their agenda, wile Repubs will give theirs up, in order to be nice and honorable
