POWAY, Calif. – Poway Unified School administrators sent a letter to parents Tuesday claiming that bullies have created an “unsafe learning and working environment” for a few students and staff since the presidential election.

The letter, sent by acting Superintendent Dr. Mel Robertson, claims that the students and employees were targeted because of their race, religion or political beliefs.

“Our students cannot learn when they are afraid or bullied and I know I speak for our full community in saying this cannot continue,” Dr. Robertson stated.

The letter:

Dear Poway Unified parents, students, and staff:

We hear so often that families move here and employees want to work in our district because we are an excellent educational institution. One of our hallmarks is the dedicated, diverse, passionate and committed members of our learning community in service to students. Our District prides itself on being a place where all students learn in a safe and caring environment, so that each one can reach their fullest potential.

Unfortunately, since the recent presidential election, it has come to my attention that a few of our staff and students have recently been targeted because of their race, religion, or political beliefs, creating an unsafe learning and working environment. Our students cannot learn when they are afraid or bullied and I know I speak for our full community in saying this cannot continue.

Instead, we must continue to work to create a positive culture where every person is respected and valued: an environment where rich dialogue is encouraged amongst our students and staff, but the discourse does not harm a person’s identity or well-being. No matter your perspective, it is vital that no election result changes our commitment to ALL of our students. They depend on each one of us to model and maintain an environment where they can flourish.

Our ongoing commitment to your children is that they are in a safe place to learn. A place where words and actions cannot and should not harm who they are. A place where each day provides them the opportunity to work with other students and adults so that each one of them can continue to mature and develop into outstanding leaders and contributors to the community. A place where they are cared for by adults and peers who listen to their needs and understand who they are and support who they want to become. A place where each should be pursuing their passions.

As we look for ways to work with our students, I ran across this website sent by the San Diego County Office of Education. It has many age-appropriate suggestions that may help: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/…/what-should-we-tell-our-…

I invite you all to work collaboratively with us as we continue to strengthen the citizenship and future readiness of our students. Our students depend on us and we must step up. Thank you for your partnership.

Sincerely,
Dr. Mel Robertson, Acting Superintendent

Methinks Mel should focus on all the white students who are assaulted and targeted by the arrogant Mexicans that infest his school district.

I went to Poway Unified School District schools from elementary through high school. It is known as one of the nation’s finest school districts. There was always a long line of applicants for teaching positions there.

Mostly middle class and upper middle class area, with huge Asian-American hard-working immigrant population. It’s a long way from downtown, well into the northern suburbs of San Diego County. Sad to see it’s going downhill with PC social agitation.

Teachers and staff and white students are routinely bullied by blacks in inner cities, and the lib responses is increasingly to tolerate the bullies. But unless this guy can provide at least one specific example of post-election bullying, I do not believe him.

Gov. Cueball is doing the same thing and has established a hotline.

Yeah, it’s odd how none of these alleged incidents of bullying are specifically mentioned or proven.

So this means that Poway Unified is sticking up for the Trump supporters who have been insulted and attacked following the election!

Right? Right?

Or, to redefine "bully".

We lived in Rancho Bernardo and my wife and I would bike out to Poway and the lake. One of the nicest spots in California, discounting the beaches. Seemed like a nice, quaint little wide spot in the road. Great hamburger joint, Hamburger Factory, next to little park.

Amazing how A.H.s can screw up anything.

The left aka Democrats have starteda resistance moving against the election of Trump. They are useing children astheir props inciting them to take to tbe streets and violence when theyrealize they will not get their way.

What they seek right now is a co-government where we share power with them fifty, fifty.

The GOP did it before.

Still there, and still great food.

Is tha tthe Poway Unified School District that issued bonds with the interest accruing for about 30 years before the principal starts to get paid down. In other words the taxpayers pay about $100 million to pay off $1 million? What a bunch of idiots.

I think I see the problem here...

The good Dr. Mel is unable to grasp that a "caring environment" is the task of parents, grandparents, and other family.

Your job, Mel, once you pull your head out of that strange place, is to provide a quiet, safe, disciplined learning environment!

Just out of curiosity, are there many GLBTQWERTYXYZ administrators in your school district?

What do they define as "targeted?" If you are a Trump supporter I guess being thrown to ground and kicked in the head is a peaceful protest but if you are a Hillary supporter you are "targeted" by being female, black, Hispanic, LGBTQ or member of some other group who has to share a room or be in the general vicinity of someone who was a Trump supporter. That is an invasion of their safe space.

Sounds suspiciously like RICO activity.
Who holds the bonds? ALL the citizens of Poway? or a few as yet unidentified connected residents and non residents?
