WTF?

Seriously, WTF?

I voted for Romney over Obama. If Trump wants to keep his friends close and his enemies closer, I don’t have a problem with Trump giving Romney a position in the administration.

But why Secretary of State? Simply because he can’t possibly frak up more than Hillary and Kerry did? Why not Secretary of Commerce, or Secretary of Transportation, or US Ambassador to Micronesia, or some other position that he might actually be qualified for and less likely to do any real damage?

The media knows nothing. Every person that goes to Trump Tower they say is going for Secretary of State.

So, so true!

That would be the more likely choice.

I'd be surprised if Trump put Romney in charge of foreign policy, but he's probably going to get an earful of advice from Mitt and his wing of the party.

Trump’s not putting Romney at State -— or anywhere else.

I think he’s just assessing how much of a problem Mittens might present.

I think it’s a brilliant move. What’s the old saying about keeping one’s friends close and your enemies closer! Whether we like it or not Romney “cleans up nice”, and it’s awfully difficult to continue trashing someone when you’ve got a key role in their administration. He’ll probably do quite well.

Gee! If I get to see elect president Trump. Will CNN say that I AM looking for a Cabinet Position. All the news out lets are reporting that any meeting with Trump is for a position. Keep them guessing.

In some ways this would be a brilliant choice.

Romney once famously said that Russia was the real enemy. That makes him an instant band-aid for any further early term speculation about the administration becoming too close to Putin. It might also be a calculated message to Moscow — we want better relations, but not the chance to kiss your butts.

Also, Romney is quite inoffensive to most foreign leaders compared to almost anyone else Trump could name to this post, and that might allow things to calm down long enough to get difficult new relationships accepted and moving forward. Any idea that the U.S.A. is in a position to dictate bilateral terms with various countries is probably very popular in the Trump base but demonstrably inaccurate and doomed to failure (all that would happen if somebody tried that would be a freeze in the status quo followed by a four year wait for change, which also might please some but I don’t see the point of even having a Secretary of State if that’s the chosen path).

Another good thing about hiring Romney is that you know he’s going to feel bummed about Trump winning where he lost, so you can rub it in about once a month.

Also, being new to politics, maybe Trump thinks you have to be a failed presidential candidate to become Secretary of State. /s

“Every person that goes to Trump Tower they say is going for Secretary of State.”

I just did a Google search for “Trump Tower” and now both CBS and ABC are reporting that *I’m* in talks with Trump to be SoS. Amazing!

If you only have enemies close, except for Bannon, that’s a problem.

Trump to staff: "Ask Mitt Romney to come visit me"

Advisor to Trump: "Sir, Mr. Romney is here per your request"

Trump to Romney: "Thanks for stopping by. I just wanted to tell you to your face... you're an idiot. Have a nice day"

My guess is it ain’t going to happen, on the basis of Romney being the one to start the red-baiting back in 2012 - ironically, getting famously slapped down in a debate for that tactic by Obama of all people.

BREAKING NEWS: A source close to the president-elect with direct knowledge of his thinking has reported that president-elect Trump has just signed his first Executive Order, effective date 21 January 2017. The EO is lengthy and has been in the works for several months. Essentially, President Trump has drafted Barack H. Obama into the US Military. Obama will serve in a security and peace keeping assignment (known as the Gay Blades) in the Republic of Kenya.
