The always classy Harry Reid took to the Senate floor on Thursday to demand Trump take action against a reported spike in hate crimes after the 2016 election.
"Two days ago I came here and called upon our president-elect to rise to the dignity of his office. I called upon Mr. Trump to take responsibility for his rhetoric and his actions to work to heal the wounds that he created," the outgoing Minority Leader said. "Our president-elect has chosen to do none of the things to this point… There's only one person who can bring a stop to that quickly, and that's the president-elect. Our nation is looking at Donald Trump."
Senator Harry Reid apparently paid no attention to Trumps highly publicized interview on 60 Minutes, the first public interview since his victory win. Trump vehemently opposed any hate crimes and repeatedly called on actors of such crime to stop it.
Trumps victory speech on election night was given rave reviews by pundits from both sides of the political spectrum. Trump reached out to all Americans when his victory was apparent. Also, Trumps visit to the White House with President Obama earned strong marks from viewers as a sign of good faith from both men.
On the other hand, Reids language post-election has been nowhere near the stratosphere of healing. On the Friday following Election Day, Reid called Trump a sexual predator who fueled his campaign with hate and bigotry. Reid even questioned the legitimacy of Trumps victory, citing his loss of the popular vote.
How on Earth is this meant to unify a nation after a long fought election battle? Now Reid is calling on Trump to heal wounds after hes been stoking the flames with gasoline? Perhaps Harry Reid should call out the mass protests across the nation over a democratically elected president-to-be. Numerous reports of Trump supporters being beaten up, even having a car stolen, has made waves across the news.
Should we expect a man who openly lied about the past Republican presidential nominee to take the high road? For those who may have forgotten, Reid claimed during the 2012 election that a source told him that Mitt Romney had not paid taxes in years. After the allegation was revealed to be bogus, Reid laughed it off.
Trump exposes the truth about Hillary (about a number of things). He WON, didn't he?
Harry: STFU
Always the jag. Tell you what Dirty Harry- STFU & GTFO.
In 2001, citing the close election, democrats demanded that the Senate and House leaders “reach out” to them by giving them tons of committee chairmanships. I’m surprised this isn’t being tried again, citing the supposedly close popular vote (though, if you eliminate the fraud, it’s a runaway landslide). Thankfully, if the subject does come up, all the GOP has to do is point to Harry One-Eye.
Reid continued, "I call upon Trump to demand that his people stop beating our protester's fists with their faces."
Reid is a human slug. He should be fined for using the word ‘dignity.’
You hypocrite, was it your Chinese partners or your Muslim buddies that kicked your ass?
One of the key reasons our nation has “wounds” is because of bitter, corrupt partisans like Harry Reid. Good riddance to him when he leaves office.
After what he said about Trump just after the election?
Trump should fly out there and blacken the other eye.
Somebody please call a psychiatrist!!! This man needs help. He bold face lies about most any Republican, and then calls on Trump to “heal wounds”???
I’m already tired of so much winning. I wonder if the Democrats are tired yet of losing?
If not yet they soon will be.
Right. And this is after Reid called Trump a ‘sexual predator’ shortly after the election. What a fool. So glad he’s gone very soon!
Senator Reid’s current behavior goes beyond partisanship. I think dementia is setting in. Good time for him to go.
Satan is smiling as it won’t be long before he’ll have a high ranking soul to add to his collection.
Reid believes his "mormon "priesthood" endows him with wisdom and powers over and above other men...Reid's statements and actions are not different from what mormon men claim as their "exceptionalism".
In an interview earlier this month with the Washington Examiner, Utah Sen. Mike Lee said, "Mormons sort of have an extra chromosome when it comes to American exceptionalism. Mormons do have an added dose of a belief in American exceptionalism."
Lee is right: Mormons are exceptional in their belief in American exceptionalism.
Mormon pioneers carried many things with them in their flight in 1846 from the United States, including the conviction that they were God's Chosen, the true heirs of liberty.
Before beginning the trek West, Brigham Young and the leaders of the church issued a PROCLAMATION of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"To all the Kings of the World; to the President of the United States of America; to the Governors of the several States; and to the Rulers and People of all Nations:
GREETING: KNOW YE THAT the kingdom of God has come ...
Still reeling from the murder of Joseph Smith and hemorrhaging members to internal divisions and rumors of polygamy, the 1845 Proclamation of the Twelve was an audacious, 10,000-word challenge to the world: You are either with us or you are against us and considering what God is capable of, you really don't want to be against us.
This is Reid's upbring and belief...that he is superior to any other man!
“Healing” — lib code word for conservative cave-in.
I hope this criminal and loser continues his exercise regimen.
Hypocrite is not the word I’d use to describe Reid.
“Now that you’ve beaten us will you give us everything we want?”
That’s not the way it works, Harry.
