Yes, but you might say he’s a “DINO”. Being registered as a Democrat helps him win in Milwaukee County but he routinely angers the democrat party and says “there is no Republican or Democrat way to be a Sheriff”. He’s more conservative than 99.% of Republicans.

Yup. Old-school conservative Democrat.

Thing is, up in his part of the country, just as it used to be in Texas, you can’t get elected if you’re *not* a Democrat.

The party affiliation probably helped him get elected in Milwaukee County. Philosophically, he’s pro-America and all about law & order. I’d stand behind Democrats like him all the time. As we all know, having the R in front of your name doesn’t mean that person will stand for what we know to be right.
