While Donald Trump resoundingly won the electoral college the state-based point system weve used in presidential elections for more than two centuries Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by about 780,000 as of a week out of the election. In other words, more Americans wanted Clinton to win, reason enough to revisit the wisdom of using the electoral college to determine elections. But a larger, more important argument is often overlooked in this ongoing debate.

But as The Donald correctly pointed out, if the popular vote was the goal he could have campaigned much more in vote-rich CA (36+ million pop.) Texas, and New York, and thus run up a massive total of popular votes.
The left ardently wants the “Unified State of Amerikkka.”

Oh, and the author can go to hell with his crackpot schemes.
Once again for the record Washington Post....There is no Popular vote for POTUS.....
This isn’t High School voting for Prom King and Queen....
Yeh schmuck if Hellary won the Electoral College but lost the popular vote you would be singing its praises and the wisdom of the founders.
And, the 3 million illegal votes they've already uncovered? How's THAT fit your popular vote narrative?
reason enough to revisit the wisdom of using the electoral college to determine elections
Right...let's let California & New York decide future elections by usurping the votes of the rest of America. GFY
Split off the major, leftist cities from their largely conservative states, creating new states. Inland California from coastal California. Upstate New York from New York City. Eastern Washington from Seattle. Eastern Oregon from Portland. Downstate Illinois from Chicago. Western Pennsylvania from Philadelphia.
This wouldn’t likely change the leftist cities, but it sure would reduce and counteract their influence upon national elections.

“States are a relic of the past. Its time to get rid of them.”
The Washington Post is a relic of the past. It’s time to get rid of it.
The WaPo is dead except inside the beltway. No one cares.
It is so bad to waste a brain like the author is.
North American Union crap.
