Why has Rudy Giuliani emerged as President-elect Donald Trump's prospect for State, the most coveted job in the administration?
Though Giuliani has little foreign policy experience, Trump insiders say Giuliani had few other options, and that Trump had to reward his most loyal, high-level supporter.
Trump transition officials and Giuliani himself has confided to friends there was little chance he could be confirmed by the Senate, which, under cloture rules, would still require Democratic support.

You must be joking.
Deepest swamp at State Department
Agreed, give the rats the idea they can bully Trump on his cabinet and they’ll successfully Bork the brains out of any constitutionalist SC nominee.
Judge Jeanine for AG.
“Like Lynch and Holder?”
Exactly. After the performance of those two jamokes Dems should never complain about the loyalties of any future AGs
How about Rudi as a special prosecutor of the Clinton Foundation. No Republicans should be pulled from the senate at this time.
The Democrats are all about winning.
The Republicans are all about comity.
“Trey Gowdy would be a good, no nonsense law and order AG who would hopefully restore the D of J”
Yes! And Trey would be exactly the type of AG that could relate to current FBI personnel that are fed up with Comey and his ilk. With Rudy as SOS, the Clintons and their pay for play schemes could really threaten to put them in prison.
Obama would have no choice but to pardon them both before he leaves office.
He's not a "Constitutional scholar" like Barry. /sarc
After getting Holder and lynch, with little opposition, the RATS have no room to complain. Their lies and hypocrisy won’t stop them, though.
“Confused. We have a Republican majority. Why would he be denied”
Perhaps it has been decided not to prosecute Hillary and Guliani has been too vocal about doing it.
No, Rudy has a history of trumping up charges against people to make a name for himself. Can we not get some true conservatives in positions of power for a change? So many of these people are career politicians, and what we need is new blood.
This is disturbing. Not because President-elect Trump doesn’t hve plenty of excellent options, but becausae if they’re backing away from a tough confirmation fight now, how can we expect them to fight one when the Dhimmicraps go after the Supmre Court nominee?
I’m not saying Trump won’t pick someone on his list — or at lest someone very much like those people (such as Senator Lee’s brother, for example) — but I’m concerned that it will be Robert Bork all over again. One of President Reagan’s failings was not fighting hard enough for Bork.
I don’t want to wind up with another Anthony Kennedy type.
Reagan should nave named Bork in 1981, not O’Connor at all, who was unworthy of appointment. That would have solved everything.
True, but he still would have been “Borked”.
I am proud that we in YAF opposed the O’Connor nomination.
Reagan had 57 Republican senators in 1981; c. 47 in 1987. However, as you may be referring, at least eight “GOP” senators, including the treacherous John Warner, voted against Bork.
They should have fought harder for Bork. Losing that gave us Kennedy.
I don’t want to have something like that happen again. The fact that they would back off Rudy for AG because it’s too hard a confirmation fight gives me pause. it suggests that they won’t fight for their Supreme Court nominee if the going gets rough.
You appear to be a Cruz fan. He’s the joke. Thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. He’s just full of himself, much like Obama.
