I would think that the WH *and* Camp David would have first class security...very probably better than anything that could be set up in Manhattan.
Would do a major disservice to NY and the area where his hotel home is.

The President needs to be with his managerial staff. And they will be in the WH.

Reagan had “The Western White House” ranch in California and spent considerable time there.
G.W. Bush had the ranch in Crawford where he spent weeks at a stretch.
Nixon spent lots of time on some Cuban guy’s boat off the South Florida coast.
Carter and Eisenhower each seemed to live at least 1/3 of the time at Camp David.
Obama lives on a golf course.
There is really no reason that Trump has to be at the White House everyday. The security briefing, reading reports, various appointments. He might not need to go to Washington but once a week or so.
I’m not sure that the security issues of protecting him in Trump tower are any greater than anywhere else.
I’m guessing if true that it’s only a temporary measure until they can clean/refurbish/enhance with new security on the WH.
This will prove to be a problem. Pistols are heavily regulated in NYC; Assault rifles are banned, and Automatic Weapons are RIGHT OUT.
I don’t see how the Secret Service can protect him.
As an aside, the Bell 222 that was Airwolf crashed long ago - it was in service as an air ambulance if memory serves.
In this era, no one has to be in the White House to conduct the government’s business. Like Members of Congress, he could fly into DC Monday night/Tuesday morning, and leave Thursday eve/Friday morning. The way Trump operates, he’d still get more done, regardless of where his physical presence might be.

Just build a second White House more to your tastes, and use the first one for ceremonial and historic purposes.

I agree, logically Trump needs to distance himself from Trump Tower for several reasons. Its a sacrifice he should know that comes with being POTUS.
I could see him at his Florida mansion, at least his security has working room.
After the inauguration he will stay in the WH only long enough for official business, otherwise he will travel the country to oversee major projects. I’ll bet on that.
JFK and EWR wouldn’t appreciate twice daily airspace disruptions.
It’s only 90 minutes on the weekends for Trump? It’s been anywhere from 10 - 20 hours for Obama’s weekend commutes. What a headache though. I get stuck with the mess in Kailua when Obama comes to crap on us. It’s horrible.
