The unthinkable has happened – Donald Trump has won. Further, the Republicans have seized control of both chambers of congress. They are planning to unleash a storm of attacks against the most vulnerable in our society. This cannot stand. We need to stand as one and revive the solidarity in the old labor slogan, “an injury to one, is an injury all.” We need to build the fightback to Trump and the Right.
Within hours of Trump being elected, Socialist Alternative with Socialist Students and Movement for the 99% put out the call for mass protests across the country to unite against sexism and racism and to begin building the movement against Trump and the the billionaire class. In less than 24 hours nearly 40,000 people answered our call!
The numbers of people – mostly young people – who attended in each city is electrifying: New York City had 10,000 people; Philadelphia 6,000; Boston 10,000; Seattle 6,000; and Oakland 5,000. Our protests were a top story on newscasts across the country and internationally – from CNN to The Guardian.
This is only the beginning.
Plans are underway for huge nationwide protests around Trump’s inauguration on January 20th and 21st to send a clear message that we reject his right-wing agenda of bigotry and pro-corporate policies. We need to build a grassroots movement against threats to escalate mass deportations of immigrants and a clampdown on muslim communities, among other attacks. Socialist Alternative will be at the forefront of building these demonstrations and organizing broad community coalitions to stand united against bigotry and hate.

Legally, every single one of these protestors who are getting paid anything more than $600 a year MUST have a 1099 issued by the employer.
That would give us a complete list of every one of them——IF the IRS laws were followed.
These ads should be investigated by the Secret Service. Prosecutions should be intense & swift. NO plea bargaining, either.
These folks have every right to protest.
March peacefully with as many nasty signs as they want. Yell/scream to their hearts’ content. Use bullhorns to encourage folks. Burn the American flag. Stomp on the American flag. Give speeches about any subject using any language they want. Hang/burn effigies of Donald Trump. IMHO, we have no right to object to any of this because it’s all within their rights as Americans.
HOWEVER, with the first physical assault, with the first danger to innocent bystanders, with the first projectile hurled at police, with the first property damage, including public property like statues, police cars, etc., IMHO, the authorities should come down on them like a ton of bricks.
Flash bangs, water cannons, tear gas (providing the wind is blowing the right direction), massive arrests, etc. Authorities should use every non-lethal power in their arsenal to quell the disturbance, including notice in social media about the expected conduct of the protest.
It is important to do this now as an example of what they can expect on Jan 21/22, 2017.

OTOH, when I was young ( before the Flood LOL ), when one turned 21, it was assumed that you were an adult and the vast majority of of people, back then, more or less accepted that fact of life and didn't believe that they were still "children". That was most assuredly the case for everyone who graduated from college and certainly for 18 year olds, who didn't go to college, which was much more "normal" back then.
I was in college when the Cuban Missile Crisis hit. there were NO "safe spaces", cups of hot chocolate nor tea, dogs to pet, or even "cry-ins" and many of those I was at college with had a brother, boyfriend, fiance, or even a husband in the service.
I was still in college when JFK was assassinated. Sure we were glued to the T.V. and radio for news, but nobody went out into the streets and burned the Flag, broke store windows, ranted, or any of the things that today's children in adult bodies and yes, long in the tooth so-called adults are doing over this past election.
There's a BIG difference between a "liberal" and a full blown Marxist/Socialist/Commie/anarchist kid of today!
I usually ignore such posts as yours, but frankly, I'm more than fed up with the excuses, PC crap,etc. being made for today's "young".
Where are the pics? I didn’t even hear of a protest in NYC this past weekend.
