GOP President-Elect Donald Trump Says Same-Sex Marriage Is 'Settled' Law
ABC News ^ | 11/13/2016 | Benjamin Siegel

Republican President-elect Donald Trump said he’s “fine” with same-sex marriage as the law of the land, calling the issue "settled" by the Supreme Court.

The comments – in his first television interview since winning the presidency – sharply contrast with his party’s orthodoxy, his running mate’s longtime position and comments the New York Republican made during the primary.

“It’s law,” he said in an interview with CBS’ ‘60 Minutes’ that aired Sunday. “It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean it’s done.”

“These cases have gone to the Supreme Court. They’ve been settled. And I’m – I’m fine with that,” he added.

The Republican Party’s official platform, ratified by the party in July, opposes same-sex marriage, condemns the Supreme Court’s rulings and supports proposed “religious freedom” legislation that critics say would allow businesses to deny services to gay people.

“he said it was a state issue”

I agree. And any honest interpretation of the Constitution would agree. The Constitution does not address abortion or homosexuality or marriage laws.

Trump, baby!!! He is going to fix #2 and ensure 1 through 3 are enforced.

Used to work around a 6 foot 5 guy that weighed 150 lbs. Gay as all get out. He had been married to one of the company’s owners daughters. Had a kid with her (kid (Really good kid) became a marine) He was gay as hell and would sit holding hands with his “Husband” at company events, but no PDA. I actually liked him. He wasn’t the brightest bulb in the marquee, but he was just that way. Was a nice guy/gal whatever. He was disgusted by what the militant homos did to memories pizza. The funny thing is he wore sh!t kickers and a cowboy hat every day and lisped. The irony was delicious. PEPE!!! MAGA!!!!

Trump gave a meaningless answer to a trap question. All Supreme Court precedent is settled law, until overruled by the Court or by changing the applicable law. Separate-but-equal was settled law before Brown v. Board of Education. Once Scalia is replaced, same-sex marriage may not remain a settled law.

Mr. Trump is a social liberal. We knew this when we voted for him.

The media game plan is apparently to cast as much doubt on the fulfillment of campaign promises as possible. Gotta keep the rubes agitated. No matter what, we’re way better off than if Jezebel had won.

So are you still on the Trump train or are you planning on getting off at the next stop.

Articles like this are designed to dispirit the base. His position is unchanged since the Primary. He called it “settled” then. He apparently said the same thing tonight.

Anyone who watched Trump’s acceptance speech at the GOP Convention would know how he feels about gays.

Fwiw What he said was “It’s done. It— you have— these cases have gone to the Supreme Court. They’ve been settled. And, I’m fine with that.”

This is not what he said.

“It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean it’s done.” “These cases have gone to the Supreme Court. They’ve been settled.

And I’m – I’m fine with that,”

So those quotes are inaccurate?

Mike Pence needs to sit down at the coffee table with Donald and explain that either he is out of step with most of his electorate or visa versa.

Once a conservative justice is aboard, someone needs to get a case on same-sex marriage before SCOTUS.

Two teensy problems remain. 1 you can not force a religious organization to accept the homo marriage and endorse it. 2 You can not force any individual or business to support or endorse or service it.

Thems the issues. That is what matters. Let them marry a toad. Who cares. Don’t force me, my business or my church to host your crazy assed sodomy.

Not according to God.

Genesis 1
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."
29 And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so.
31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

It is possible to overturn a SCOTUS decision (it has happened in the past) but I’m not counting on it.

Frankly we have bigger fish to fry.

Thank you for a civil reply to my wise crack.

My specific problem is him saying he is FINE with it in this interview. He only said the opposite during the primary. I took that to the bank as I am certain many other Christian's did also. It was actually mentioned in Church today.

By the same standard should I be fine with him now saying he is FINE with abortion?

The more I write the more frustrated I become. Again, we won! We have Congress. Who the heck is he trying to please and why? The morons throwing rocks through windows?

I’ve been waiting for this. He is not a social conservative. And he didn’t pretend to be. This was his position during the primaries. We have bigger fish to fry.
