Donald Trump might only be a part-time resident of the White House.
The New York Times reported the president-elect is already talking with his advisers about how many nights a week he will actually stay in the official presidential mansion. According to the newspaper he has told them he would like to do what he always has – spend time in New York.
Trump, according to the newspaper, was shocked when he won the election and is trying to come to terms that his life is about to change. The Times noted that during the campaign he often flew hours late at night just to sleep in his own bed in Trump Towers in New York City.

He should try to be more like obama, who never even left the WH to go on vacation!
Could be a nightmare, unless he shuttles between Trump Towers and the airport via Marine 1. Otherwise NYC would be continually congested, although I could warm to that idea.

I guess it all depends upon whether he wants to be able to vote in DC.
I hope this is just the beginning. There is no reason our Congresspeople have to live in D.C., either. They could do 90 percent of their job from home via teleconference and other means. This is 2016, not 1816. Actually, there is one reason for them to live in D.C. that I’m sure is paramount in their minds: to get away from their constituents.
Not sure I believe this. Too early to make judgments. We’ve excoriated Obama & his family for all their taxpayer funded travel. Moving Trump back & forth between D.C. & Manhattan multiple times per week would be very expensive. He’s gonna be super busy and will want to adapt to the WH and Camp David.
The problem is he needs a Situation Room at his command and a safe Bunker.
For many semi-rich (New York standards), living in New York means paying that tax unless you limit stay to 182 days per year. Wonder if DJT cares? I doubt it!
The Liberal Media needs to shut up. I am so tired, along with most Americans, of them telling us what we should think, feel, and how we should act.
The Liberal Media does nothing but SPIN to create discord among Conservatives, and anger in Liberals toward Conservatives.
They are so full of themselves, and full of hate for anything moral or upright.

Neither did the Obamas. But I don’t think Donald Trump is going to bill the taxpayers millions upon millions of dollars for vacation expenses.
As my kids would say about this one, I’m pretty skep about this story.
Trump should build a NEW WHITE HOUSE . Maybe up at Camp David , which becomes the new official residence of the POTUS .
Turn the old one into a museum or something . Let the ghosts of the past live there .
I think a NEW WHITE HOUSE , modern ,spacious and easily defensible , is the way to go . Get out of the morass of downtown D.C.
Let the U.S. Gov continue to function there , but the Executive lives slightly further afield .
Tie it in to Greenbrier somehow maybe . VAST underground capacity there already . What;s the current White House got ? A high tech basement ?
The Trump White House should be as new as the America which is just being born .
