BRITAIN'S Armed Forces will be asked to form a closer military alliance with the US and fight operations on an "equal footing", sources in Washington DC revealed last night.
The news emerged as General Lord Dannatt, former head of the British Army, called for the UK to boost defence spending by a further $5bn a year to fill "crucial capability gaps".
He added that Britain's post-Brexit stance, which "bound in the US to European defence", would give it a new leverage over Brussels which could "put the pin" in the idea of a Euro Army.
Advisors close to president-elect Donald Trump have made it known to senior British officers in Washington DC that a new administration expects Britain to play a bigger role in destroying the Islamic State - one of Trump's main pledges - and deliver a hardline approach to the global terror threat.
While he has already affirmed the importance of a "very special relationship" with Britain, Trump will expect Britain to fight "side by side" with US counterparts, sources have said - and this will include a commitment to British boots on the ground.
The move, revealed by a two-star British General, is said to be the brainchild of Trump's most influential military advisor, US General Mike Flynn.
Gen. Flynn, who directed SAS operations in Afghanistan, is a known supporter of Britain's military capability.

ISIS created by the saudis, clinton and obama
It’s obvious we should rebuild the US/UK brotherhood back to where it was pre-Obama. It is right and just that the two nations responsible for the most good these 300 years should continue back along the same path. Australia, India, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland should jump on the truck as well. The common bond isn’t whiteness or english, it’s the secular English Common Law, a synonym for JUSTICE.
I do have to admit that legally killing ISIS combatants is a great way to off a sizable group of dangerous and evil persons.
the poodle is such a great ally
Here’s a tongue in cheek thought:
With a reinvigorated military, it occurs to me that America could easily take over a destabilized Europe. Why wait for Islam to conquer it?
Let’s add 10 more States - Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France, etc... Beautiful mountains, lakes and countryside.
By accepting ISIS fighters on the dole to destroy their culture and country, they don’t seem to care. They love paying taxes and lousy healthcare too.
Low maintenance. I feel like we owe it to them, more humane than all the dull machetes.
Just my humble opinion but, I don’t think President Trump will be someone who rushes into a shooting war as fast as Hillary would. Contain and confine them first. Then, if that doesn’t do the job, vaporize them and the camels they rode in on.
A Euro army with Islamist undertones and a hatred for Israel scares me.
The British are outstanding allies, and their military punches well above their weight class. Obama has treated them with contempt because he hates Anglos.
I don’t agree.
Why get into a war defending one group of Muslims from another group of Muslims.
No matter which group of Muslims comes out on top, they will persecute the other group. This has been the pattern for over 1,000 years.
That, plus there is no definable ‘ISIS’.
It’s a constantly changing set of allegiances, tribal and sectarian. You can’t isolate them well enough to neutralize them. It’s a religious ideology that has its own momentum that can’t be stopped by surgically killing a few hundred or even a few thousand ‘fighters’. There will instantly be more and this can go on for centuries.
Let other Muslims solve their own Muslim problems internally.
What we can do is contain them in their own lands and keep them out of ours as much as possible. Let them fight it out among themselves. They only want the West involved because one clan or sect thinks the West will help them beat the other clan or sect.
Since we are mostly not Muslims, we don’t have an interest in which clan or sect prevails in any particular geographic region in any particular time frame. Look at the 1,000+ year history of this conflict. It’s not ‘winnable’ even if we cared which sect of Islam wins.
Not our fight.
If we did go in there and ‘win’, we’d have to stay there for decades if not centuries to keep the peace ... meanwhile more of our non-Muslim military people die to keep one group of Muslims from the throats of another group of Muslims.
I pray that someone sensible will give Trump a history book and he will read it. I know Trump likes to win, but there is nothing to ‘win’ fighting for Muslims.
Amen
Obama and Hillary’s donors are/were the same as ISIS, not so with Trump.
Period!
