Soon after becoming president-elect, Donald Trump talked about fixing our highways and bridges.
"We are going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none, and we will put millions of people to work as we rebuild it," Mr. Trump said Wednesday morning.
The transition website says the Trump administration will invest $550 billion for roads, tunnels, airports and railways but offers no detail.
A recent paper by Trump campaign advisers suggests private companies would spend a trillion dollars on public infrastructure in exchange for federal tax credits.
At an event marking the passage of the Sound Transit 3 light rail plan, KIRO 7 asked WSDOT Secretary Roger Millar what kinds of local projects the Trump administration might fund.
"I think they're getting organized right now," Millar said. "I have no sense of what those priorities might be, but I think we're talking about moving people and goods and services and that's something everybody in the country wants."
President-elect Trump's job-creation promise is similar to President Obama's 2009 stimulus package, which Republicans opposed.
The White House says the stimulus saved or created a nationwide average of 1.6 million jobs a year for the first four years.
State documents from 2010 show the stimulus brought more than $1.5 billion to Washington for transportation.
The state's transportation secretary says he'd welcome more federal money.
"We have, as you know, a lot of work going on around the state and we'd be happy to take all the resources we can find," Millar said.
Is the wall considered infrastructure? It will create jobs.
Mexican and Canadian borders.
“President-elect Trump’s job-creation promise is similar to President Obama’s 2009 stimulus package, which Republicans opposed.”
Every day I grow to hate the media more and more. Now they are equating the Obama Stimulas with the have trilllon dollars in job creation that Trump will deliver.
Donald’s words to God’s ears
Yes, and 2 birds with one stone: employ all the illegals to build it as long as they build it from the south face of it only.
.
Sounds like the stimulus package and shovel ready jobs.
i.e. work on it from the south side only.
I think the wall should be built by Americans.
Yes. I'm hoping the contracts will be real, and won't go to a bunch of democRat-supporting union thugs this time.

Get Americans working.
Obama blew 2 trillion and I never saw that jobs or bridges and roads that paid for.
I agree, i just couldn't resist the visual of illegals walling themselves off from the USA down there.
.
yes it would but there’s that backstabbing two faced all palsy-walsey Paul Ryan now that The Donald has become President-elect.
I’ve seen people like Ryan before in my lifetime up and down the ladder and let me tell you he’s just one of a dime a dozen personality types.
That Paul Ryan had the audacity to stand in front of a camera and say “this is the most incredible political feat I have ever seen in my lifetime”.
Note to Ryan: you haven’t lived long enough and you , Paul Ryan are as spinless as a jellyfish. You, Ryan , have a loooong way to go but just remember-you too, will receive your verbal due because you Mr. Ryan are a back-biting,back-stabbing snake.
It’s sad to think Ryan practically claims the President-elect Donald Trump’s success as his own.
There could be all kinds of innovative ways to do this in collaboration with the private sector if your goal was to actually get things built not just piss money away to cronies as “stimulus”. This is square in Trump’s wheelhouse, let’s get-er-done.
And any illegals who commit crimes, or who get deported and sneak back into our country.
I want to be that guy that drives back-and-forth in the “pilot truck”.
But an article from Louie Gohmert reports that the funding for the wall is already in place and has been since the Bush administration. It was never used. So this $550 billion floated in this article would not include that, I’d think.
Now there’s talk about Canada building one. We should do it first and charge them.
Obama’s stimulus was a slush fund to payoff unions. Hopefully Trump’s stimulus will actually build stuff.
