At 3:30 EST when the networks finally called it for Trump, I felt nothing but relief. Not joy, not exhilaration, just relief.
Then the temper tantrum riots started.
Now, I’m pissed all over again.
Personally, being in Canada, I feel that I’m on the wrong side of the border, although I would have to cross the border and a mountain range to get to freedom, or places where freedom is valued.
However, if I were an American living in a region of general Trump support, I would feel relieved to know that in the inevitable cultural civil war to follow, I was in a good place and that my government was on my side even if powerful forces in society were not.
Hillary Clinton would have sought to extend the culture of the modern university with its directed groupthink and lack of real free speech to the entire society, building on the trend that Obama started but with more expertise and passion as a more committed ideologue. It would have been a very rough ride, as the globalists continued to plunder the national treasury. Just avoiding that nightmare should make everyone feel a giant sense of thanks and relief.
Reagan had a rough start also, almost got killed, but had that decisive win against the air traffic controllers’ union and went on to a celebrated presidency. There are also parallels to Richard Nixon here. Nixon was a relatively good and effective president before the Watergate situation, but I’ve always felt that Watergate was probably a case of “Republican good, Democrat good” politics as usual. If Nixon had not had the Watergate episode his presidency might also be recalled with general favor. And his choice for VP was probably another thing that Trump has beaten by a mile.
I suspect that more is about to happen in the world than just this election. If God were about to act, He would probably wait for Americans to choose the right way, because I can’t conceive of a last judgement where God has to punish this one nation that has endured so much in a spirit of obedience, at least on the larger historical scale. The snowflakes may not be so fortunate.
