Now Trump supporters, who are still celebrating his historic win last night that saw him secure 279 votes in the electoral college, say the WikiLeaks activist should be pardoned for helping to bring home the victory.
Hundreds of social media users have gone online to demand Mr Trump takes action immediately to pardon the activist, who remains holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
James Thomas said: “Julian Assange is a hero. Trump should pardon and make him Press Secretary.”
Patrick Savalle said: “Mr. Trump, now show some real balls and pardon Edward Snowden, Chelsea Manning and most of all your chief campaigner Julian Assange.”
Twitter user Chrysostomos said: “Has Trump been in touch with Julian Assange about a possible pardon? I think many would be happy to lobby him for one.”
Duke Rivers tweeted: “Mr. President-Elect Trump: may I make a suggestion? Pardon Assange. The value of his work is clear by now.”
Obviously, Trump can’t pardon Assange before 1/20/17. Maybe Obama will do it in response to the reports Hillary blamed him and Comey for her election loss.
OK, he’s not a U.S. citizen. He hasn’t been convicted of a crime in the U.S. He’s not under indictment in the U.S. Pardon him for what?

It would make one hell of a bargaining chip with Obama to keep Hillary from getting same.
It's a tricky case. He probably helped Trump, but he has done damage in other WikiLeaks releases.
I totally support the request that Assange be pardoned.
Rarely do some people not only do bad things for a good reason, but also do so with transcendental results.
In fact, if there were an ounce of character, moral, ethics, real knowledge, in Barack Hussein Obama, he would preempt Trump and FINALLY accomplish ONE GOOD THING FOR THE RESTORATION UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

The election was for all the marbles because the world is waking up to the hidden assets and lines of oligarch control via the Internet. The news media were the last line of defense to the citadel. People are learning about the Bilderberg Society, the Mt. Pelerin Society, the Council of Foreign Nations, the true strategies of the IMF and the World Bank. We are now looking at the man behind the curtain thanks to the many investigative authors who have their works online and to the whislteblowers Assange, Snowden and Manning. The only strategy left to the fascist financier oligarchy is to blow the planet to ash via WWIII, which they are trying like hyenas to provoke in Syria and Ukraine.
Trump cannot pardon him unless he was just elected President of Sweden.
I suspect however that the Swedes are about to drop the charges and he will go free.

I don’t think a pardon is in the future for Assange, but I could see a quite reasonable plea deal with a Trump Justice Department.
He’s done a great service to the American people, but let’s not forget we actually do have an interest in keeping military secrets from our enemies to protect the American people.
I think the Obama administration expected that Permanent Demographic Change was already here and the Left would have control of the US government for the foreseeable future.
Therefore they didn’t give a crap about the rule of law and made the departments and agencies of the US government a type of Chekist tool against political and ideological opponents.
Personally, I have ZERO confidence that the NSA has not been used to blackmail justices or congressmen or media people with the mass data they collect on ordinary American citizens.
We need a new regime of whistleblower protections to pick up legitimate whistleblowers.
But it is not necessarily all black and white. For example, Edward Snowden did a service in many respects, but not in others.
I suggest Assange and Snowden seek reasonable plea agreements that contain consent agreements on conduct going forward in conjunction with new congressional legislation with a view to drawing a new line between whistleblowing and genuine protection of legitimate US secrets.

It most certainly does not!
Most mentally healthy informed, knowledgeable adults understand that it is a rational assumption that January 21 is the earliest he is legally empowered to grant a pardon; or anything else, for that matter; or January 23, 2017, if he is a good Christian.
As far as I know he has not been charged with a crime in the US, nor is he under investigation for a potential crime.
the only place where he is wanted for questioning is Sweden for a rape charge.
While I appreciate the sentiment and certainly what Assange has done, to my knowledge he is not accused of breaking any US law.
Ergo, there is no a US president can pardon.
The pardon would have to come from where ever the rape charge (which appears fake) came from.
