Republicans in Congress Plan Swift Action on Agenda With Donald Trump
NY Times ^ | Nov. 9, 2016 | JENNIFER STEINHAUER

WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans, stunned by their own good, if complicated, fortune, said on Wednesday that they would move quickly next year on an agenda that merges with President-elect Donald J. Trump’s, repealing the Affordable Care Act, cutting taxes, confirming conservative judges, shrinking government programs and rolling back regulations.

Like much of the nation, groggy Republicans were still trying to process results that were the opposite of what most had anticipated. Many Republicans in the House and Senate largely avoided Mr. Trump during his campaign, while a handful outright denounced him, largely to their peril. In the Senate, two incumbents and one Republican challenger who rejected Mr. Trump lost. Republicans appeared likely to secure a 52-to-48 majority in the Senate.

Mr. Trump’s victory provides what Republicans have been seeking for a decade: unified control of the government and a chance to pursue a conservative agenda, transforming them from the “party of no” into a party that can enact significant legislation.

Great. It's definitely time for the R Congress to get on board and pass the Trump agenda. This is what people voted for.

It had better not be PAUL RYAN’s agenda of statism-lite. Let’s not let the RINOs in the drivers seat now.

Great. It's definitely time for the R Congress to get on board and pass the Trump agenda.

Given how the Republican party fought Mr. Trump, the corruption scandals being revealed, and their constant pushing/enabling of statism I think we ought to be very weary of them.

The repubs should not work with the Dems. They should railroad them the same way the dems have railroaded the country for decades. NO “reaching across the aisle”, no “sharing power.”

Democrats controlled both chambers during the first two years of Obama’s first term. They squandered those two years passing ObamaCare. Republicans need to make sure they don't squander the next two years the same way, or there will be retribution in November 2018.

I’d invite them to talks initially but if its obvious they have no desire to be on board then just say screw it and move forward.

I don`t even care if you have to include some provision to allow current members of congress to start from zero regarding term limits, if that`s what`s needed to get it passed. Just get it passed!

Need to repeal the Obamacare penalty as soon as possible before tax season.

They can do it in a filibuster-proof way.

Get Jeff Sessions cracking on a new immigration bill to replace the vile “1965 Immigration Act”. Lower legal immigration to under 250,000 per year.Get rid of family reunification & chain immigration. Then start getting ICE fixed. That’s a start.

Yes, this is no time to play Mr. Nice Guy - that’s what the Left tries to guilt them into doing, as if it would be reciprocal - not!
