Paul Ryan is not out. He protected his members, and he will remain Speaker. Ryan is not only respected, he is well-liked.
There seems to be little understanding of the dynamics of leadership elections in both chambers. It takes a certain style of person, with legislative tactician expertise, leadership gifts, and a willingness to forego policy for strategy and fundraising.
McConnell will remain and Ryan will remain.
And they will move promptly on an Obamacare repeal bill. Part of it may get dismantled through the budget reconciliation process, which is not subject to a filibuster rule. There are many tactical decisions.
To those of you unaware, the GOP House and Senate sent Obama an Obamacare repeal bill in 2015, which he promptly vetoed. Now we will have a president who will sign the bill.
