Paul Ryan: Donald Trump’s Election Is ‘Most Incredible Political Feat I Have Seen in My Lifetime’
Time ^ | 11/9/2016 | Maya Rhodan

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday congratulated President-elect Donald Trump, calling his win a historic moment in our nation’s history. Ryan spoke from Janesville, Wisc. on the heels of his own win and a victory for Republicans in the typically blue state, which dealt a surprise blow to Hillary Clinton.

“This is the most incredible political feat I have seen in my lifetime,” Ryan said. “Donald Trump heard a voice in this country that no one else heard…he turned politics on its head and now Donald Trump will lead an unified Republican government.”

Ryan said he spoke to both Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence Wednesday morning and added he believes their relationship is in a good place after a tumultuous campaign. The House Speaker was initially reluctant to endorse Trump as the Republican presidential nominee and by fall he decided to shift focus away from the candidate and toward protecting vulnerable lawmakers. In response, Trump blasted Ryan for being “disloyal.” On Wednesday, Ryan said many of Republicans’ Election Night wins were because candidates were able to ride Trump’s coattails to victory.

“We won more seats than anyone expected and most of that is thanks to Donald Trump,” he said. The new, unified Republican government, Ryan said, signals a new way forward for both the country and Washington. He hopes that unity will carry over to the American people, including those who voted for Clinton.

“We have a very clear agenda, we believe in the principles of the Constitution,” he said of Republicans. “This is exciting. For those people who are concerned, this is the time to unify.”

Ryan, as the Brits would say, “your puckering up and groveling is rather bad form you know!”

re: Donald Trump heard a voice in this country that no one else heard

This is why the establishment is the establishment. The clear fact is that millions of deplorables heard this voice. That even now Paul Ryan thinks that nobody else heard this shows how he has been brainwashed by the beltway cartel.

He still needs to be deposed. He’ll backstab Trump at the first opportunity, behind closed doors.

I don’t think Trump will interfere. He may put Ryan on notice that he’s going to have to put up or shut up and that Americans have given the GOP another chance to redeem themselves and they better not blow it.

Paul Ryan is an opportunist, but he's a gracious opportunist. I'd (more or less) accept his almost-apology.

Hillary losing was not a “surprise blow” to anyone paying attention.

Ryan said. “Donald Trump heard a voice in this country that no one else heard...”

You mean he responded to a voice that you and all the other corruptocrats chose to ignore.

Donald Trump heard a voice in this country that no one else heard…

However I feel about the duplicitous Mr. Ryan, he is a professional politician and an intelligent man and this is an interesting thing to hear from him. If no one else heard the voice he's talking about, it's because they weren't listening. 59 million voices is a lot of murmuring not to trip over at some point if you're a politician trying to get elected to office.

Why, for example, did Trump's message of simple love of country, normally a staple of political discourse in the United States, seem unique? It doesn't take a great deal of political acumen to recognize that a major portion of the voting public was sick and tired of hearing their country derided, their flag treated with contempt, their social structures and practices cursed as unjust and in need of radical change. "Yeah, we think the country sucks too, just not as bad as the Dems" is a losing position. That isn't difficult. "Sure, 0bamacare is awful, but let's mend it, not end it," is a losing position. "We need to reach out to people who are having the time of their political lives spitting on us," is a losing position. The GOPe aren't losers because they lost, the lost because they're losers. There is a big difference.

Didn’t take Ryan long did it? Ryan needs to GO! Maybe he can cry on Romney’s shoulder.

Paul ("Yes, me-dark-lord-0bama") Ryan:

“This is the most incredible political feat I have seen in my lifetime.”

Yes, wasn't it Pauly? Especially given you and your globalist cabal's boot on Trump's throat. We will NOT forget your sabotage and ridicule of Trump's ability, credibility and campaign. Nor will your treason be forgotten.

#DRAIN THE SWAMP. Including of this POS.

Not once did Ryan EVER defend Trump while he was under extreme assault; On the contrary -- he stomped his GOPe boot onto Trump's throat even more so when the chips were down.
