Minor point, but the popular vote is essentially Trump 49 to Clinton 47, the leftover split between Johnson, Stein and others is only 4 per cent, about 3 of that to Johnson. Those numbers are all somewhat smaller than polls were saying (which is what many of us expected).
Clinton’s 47 per cent would basically verify Romney’s ill-fated pronouncement that 47 per cent of the voters are lost to the Republican Party. Problem was, he went on to lose about 5 per cent more, Trump got them back. That is the basic difference here, methinks ... 90% of Americans probably voted the same way they voted in every election but 10% switched, and more switched to Trump than to Johnson fortunately.
