~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: United States Naval Academy, Maryland

usna2

The United States Naval Academy is a four-year coeducational federal service academy in Annapolis, Maryland, United States. Established on October 10, 1845, under Secretary of the Navy George Bancroft, it is the second oldest of the United States' five service academies, and educates officers for commissioning primarily into the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps.

Candidates for admission generally must both apply directly to the academy and receive a nomination, usually from a Member of Congress. Students are officers-in-training and are referred to as midshipmen. Tuition for midshipmen is fully funded by the Navy in exchange for an active duty service obligation upon graduation.

usna4

Approximately 1,200 "plebes" enter the Academy each summer for the rigorous Plebe Summer, but only about 1,000 midshipmen graduate. Graduates are usually commissioned as ensigns in the Navy or second lieutenants in the Marine Corps, but a small number can also be cross-commissioned as officers in other U.S. services, and the services of allied nations.

usna6

The academic program grants a bachelor of science degree with a curriculum that grades midshipmen's performance upon a broad academic program, military leadership performance, and mandatory participation in competitive athletics. Midshipmen are required to adhere to the academy's Honor Concept.

In its 2016 edition, U.S. News & World Report ranked the U.S. Naval Academy as the No. 1 public liberal arts college and tied for the 9th best overall liberal arts college in the U.S. In the category of High School Counselor Rankings of National Liberal Arts Colleges, the Naval Academy is also tied for No. 1 with the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy, and is tied for the No. 5 spot for Best Undergraduate Engineering program at schools where doctorates not offered.

Indeed they can! And there are 36 of them here!
At least there are two of us here for them to push around, and they keep us both busy. :-)

That would be LUV. She hasn't become a full-fledged "vampire" yet. LOL

Buttah is all natural. From a cow. Margarine is not.

Funny, a lot of stuff that the “health Nuts’ hate is 100% NATURAL.

I have learned quickly to pace myself. That way I have a little to do every day instead of killing myself on one day and then being bored all the rest of the week. LOL!

Of course, I only have two cats to clean up hair after. LOL!

LOL! Sometimes it feels that way.

When you live on a farm with a BIG barn, people looking for somewhere to dump their unwanted kitties figure we need a mouser. We take them in when they show up at the house and they have a forever home. And we’ve ended up with a “herd” of them. Raivis is our most recent addition.

Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.

Did you make it safely through Monday?

I really need a mouser.

But I would be content with a Remington.

It came naturally. Been a “vampire” since birth, much to my parents’ dismay. LOL

It’s nice to be able to go back to my normal schedule again, though I’ll go to bed early-ish tonight. Getting up early to vote tomorrow, get a few things done, then get ready for a big election night bash the county GOP is throwing. Our congressman, state representative, and state senator will all be there.

I normally pace myself but a few things had been ignored a while. All done now but I’m paying for it.

Cleaning up cat hair is a constant, no doubt about that!

I much prefer the in-person precinct voting as opposed to the mail-in ballots we have here; too much possibility of voter fraud.

And we've seen fraud here in Washington state in the past but it's hard to prove.
