I can see there will be no healing when this election is over, no matter which side wins. It has been like this for the past several elections, exacerbated by Obama's haughty attitude, which is resented by normal Americans. It's only going to get worse.

“...this election will leave about 50 percent of the people in this country feeling like this isn’t their country.”

We haven’t even had 65% eligible voter turnout since 1908. There’s plenty of folks who don’t/won’t care, or care enough to bother vote about it anyhow.

If the 10% of voters who are supposedly swing voters actually do decide national elections, then we have the situation where the dumbest who somehow still manage to vote actually decide all elections, no matter the result. No matter who wins, pub or dem, con or lib, they were chosen because they somehow swayed the swayable into choosing between two fairly opposed political philosophies.

We are about to experience the legacy of Obama.

Hatred and division.

The first responsibility of the president elect will be to reach out and welcome in. The great challenge will be making peace, not with foreign governments, but with American citizens.

And that doesn't seem likely.

Neither candidate seems inclined to graciousness. Neither candidate seems particularly interested in or capable of reaching out to people who disagree. Trump has spoken more of love, and been less specifically condemning of his opponent's supporters, but his brand has been so destroyed among Democrat voters that the only reasonable response they can have is hatred.

I think this author will be surprised by Trump. He doesn't understand Trump's brash style: he can be confrontational, but he knows when to moderate his position to achieve results.

I don't expect Trump to kowtow to the left, but I don't expect him to antagonize them, either. But, the left will still have TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome), so they'll nbe on the attack, constantly. And, the lamestream media will be supporting them.

Looking back at the election, Trump's attacks have been aimed at the people that attacked him. He attacked the political class in DC that everyone hates. He attacked external threats to the US: extremist Islamists, illegal immigrants committing crimes.

He didn't attack Hillary voters -- at least I don't remember him doing so. In contrast, that's been the basis of Hillary's entire campaign: calling Trump voters "deplorable", "racist", and almost every pejorative I can think of.

Hillary has poisoned the well, and the people she attacked will never support her. Compromise would be impossible, and with the Republicans controlling the House, her hands will be tied. We'll see more unconstitutional executive orders, and the courts will be busy.

If Trump wins, Dems riot for a while until the State no longer supports them - then the crack down on the violent and slow withering of the non-violent because the financial incentives are cut.
If Trump loses, the BLM violence, the SJWs attacking conservatives, WILL get worse and stay that way. And the conservatives organizing against it will be blamed for their self defense.

Anyone remember the 2004 election, the attitude is very similar.

Agreed. I've been saying for some time that November 8th is not the end. It is just the beginning.

What will happen Wednesday morning? Well, I’ll get out of bed and fix some breakfast just like always. Though I see what you mean. If Trump loses, I don’t know how I’m going to explain it to the dog.

I wonder what Trump will do if he loses...

1. Retire from politics?
2. Start a third party - the T Party. (the establishment is going to Savage him and his supporters)?
3. Keep hammering away at the corrupt system and Clintons, planning another run in 4 years?

“Only one thing is certain about Wednesday morning, half of America is going to be pissed off.

Infuriated, alienated, disenfranchised.”

Actually for those who support Hillary, this is not a true statement. “Half of America”? I don’t believe she has that much support. With evidence of voter fraud in previous Presidential elections, and the absentee ballot fraud being reported presently, nowhere near half of the electorate will feel disenfranchised. A lot of the Left will scream about not getting away with their standard practice, but nowhere near half of the electorate will feel disenfranchised.

Now among those who support Trump, yes, they will feel betrayed by a crooked system that has repeatedly ignored their wishes. they will hunker down, expecting the Left to continue its assault on morality, honesty, integrity, and goodness. We view our Republic as in mortal danger from within and without.

The biggest problem is the powers that be within are cooperating the the danger from out and disarming us.

This guy still thinks it's a battle between old school Democrats and Republicans. It's not. The old school politics were conducted by parties that both subscribed to the American ideals and founding principles. Because of that, and that alone, governing power could be transferred peaceably.

However, today's battle is between those who uphold America's founding principles vs. those who hate those principles and desire to transform America away from the idea that governing power originated from God-to the people and THEN are distributed by the People's consent via Constitutional parameters.

We cannot compromise with ideas that run counter to our founding principles because to do so is to relinquish our already tenuous hold on liberty.

Today, Hillary and the Democrats seek to rob the people of their authorities, freedoms and power. They seek to establish a totalitarian regime. NEVER COMPROMISE! NEVER! The only course of action is to DEFEAT THE ENEMIES OF FREEDOM.

The war goes on after November 8th. I pray for a total TRUMP VICTORY. . .a victory for America!!

“There is a likelihood that either side will see electoral victory as a justification for its own delusions of infallibility”

Hogwash. Trump will rightly go after those who are corrupt and/or liars - but he does NOT have delusions of infallibility. That’s a crap lie spread early in the primaries. He has no animus towards average Americans that HONESTLY disagree with him. He does not despise them. Unlike Hillary - who IS evil and a sociopath and WILL go after any and all detractors or those not bowing in submission to her.

But deliverance is of the Lord.

Trump has done a great job. We leave it to the Lord on the 8th and the 9th should be fine.

I was very depressed when Carter won in ‘76. But t knew it would be over in 4 years. I didn’t think we could survive 4 years of Obama. But we survivo 8. I’m afraid Hillary spells the end. I hurt for the future but glad I won’t be here.
