...during a lunch break in the waning days of the federal conspiracy trial of the occupiers when defense lawyer Lisa Maxfield picked up an intriguing lead.
Maxfield was interviewing a potential witness.......
he revealed that "this weird French guy" has shown up "out of nowhere"........
"I thought he was an agent provocateur,"....
"Oh that guy!" chimed in defendant Shawna Cox, who was nearby in the eighth-floor courthouse room set aside for the defense. "You need to unmask him."
... over beers and mussels in a downtown bar, Maxfield and fellow defense attorney Tiffany Harris decided to smoke out the mystery man.....
If they could show that an informant egged on the occupiers, particularly in encouraging them to use guns....
The lawyers passed the picture around to the defendants........
...Maxfield received a voicemail.
"I don't know who this Mr. Wampler is," the caller with the foreign accent told her, enlongating the name so it souded like "Woompler." He also mentioned getting a subpoena "about some kind of Burns thing."
The caller identified himself as "Samuel" and said he was in Arizona......
Later that day.... Maxfield received a series of text messages. They were from her law partner....
a detective with the Hualapai Tribal Police, saying he was reaching out on Minoggio's behalf and that Minoggio was in the middle of taking police academy courses...
Minoggio was claiming he had not been at the refuge or in Harney County, had nothing to do with the case or had no idea why he had been subpoenaed.....
.... Government Exhibit No. 73--a video played for jurors at least four times. An occupier filmed it Jan. 25, capturing a group of men standing in a line at the refuge boat launch and firing off rifles in a barrage of bullets toward the water....

A very detailed article about a man who showed up at the protest and supervised mass shooting of bullets that was video recorded and used as evidence against the defendants.
Fabio Minoggio is now working a police officer on the Hualapai (Wallapai) Indian Reservation in Arizona.
His payoff for being an FBI informant?

What a sick government we are ruled by.
Interesting article. I was amazed that the group was acquitted, but now see the “Fabio” revelation played a big part in it.

Any followup to the story about the group’s lawyer who was tazed in front of the judge after the acquittal? I think I read he was released and not prosecuted for whatever they claimed he did, but was he able to do anything about what these goons did? He needs to file suit, and the judge and court reporter, etc. would be witnesses.
I haven’t seen an update on that...doesn’t mean there’s not something out there on it.
I’m thinking the judge would have to be called as a “hostile” witness after the fireworks between the two.
They are charging the lawyer, Marcus Mumford, with something and he has a court date in Portland on January 6th.
He should get his civil rights suit on file right away and take some discovery from those who were in the courtroom, including the judge, who was telling the marshalls to back off.
