Can he get another car? If someone stole my truck with my tools, it would be devastating at this point in my life. He will have stolen a lot more than material goods. Furthermore, when someone takes your property, they take your dignity, they essentially make you a slave to their desire. I think those are things worth fighting to preserve. You can get insurance for your tools and your truck. I suggest that you do it soon.
I hope your truck and your tools are insured, but I know in the end, the insurance payout would not cover the entire costs of replacement.
However, that cost is a whole lot cheaper than attorney fees for a murder trial and the money you would not be earning while you are sitting in prison for the nest 15-20 years.
