That’s when Newt and Company took Congress from ole Tom Foley.

Correction

That is when the grass roots movement gave Newt and the GOP the House and Senate

.
I hope its like 1980, and not ‘08 or ‘12.

Romney won in 2012, but the party wouldn’t defend it.

The congressional races prove that Romney won.

Precisely!

And Noot cancelled most of the victory. We got just about nothing out of winning the congress.

That bought tears to my eyes......I’m so grateful to have lived in a time that brought us Ronald Reagan, grateful for the patriotism that swept this land. Haven’t even close to that for a long time.......and sadly, this may be our last chance to see those times again. GO TRUMP!

IIRC, Blue used to be the color used for the incumbent and red the color for the challenger one election, then the colors reversed for the next.

After the Reagan election, the networks seemed to collude in keeping the ‘pubbies red after the 1984 vote.

That’s what I recall, anyway

Before the 2000 presidential election, the traditional color-coding scheme was "Blue for Republican, Red for Democrat,"[5] in line with European associations (red is used for left-leaning parties).https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states#Table_by_year_since_1984

I believe El Rushbo as articulated this as well.

Yes, it’s beginning to.

And Caddell knows something about 1980.

Here's a link to 1988 election night news coverage from CBS News:

I think it's safe to say that the Wikipedia article is 100% bullsh!t. If Rush Limbaugh has said the same thing, then he's full of sh!t, too.

The choice of colors in this divide may appear counter-intuitive to foreign observers, as in some countries, red is associated with liberal parties, while blue is associated with conservative parties. For example, the major center-right parties in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Spain and France all use blue (whether officially or unofficially); whereas the major center-left parties in each country are associated with red. If the U.S. followed such a pattern, blue would be used for the Republicans and red for the Democrats. However, the current U.S. scheme has become so ingrained in the American election system that foreign sources who cover U.S. elections, such as the BBC, Der Spiegel and El Mundo follow with the red-Republican, blue-Democratic scheme for U.S. elections.[37][38][39]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states#Polarization

Red should be used for liberals/socialists and Blue for conservatives.

The media knows it and is all too happy to have the colors this way.

“The media knows it and is all too happy to have the colors this way.”

They are the ones who assigned the colors.

Yep, I count my blessings to have lived under Ronald Reagan, especially since it was in my twenties and he created tons of opportunities for lots of young people (especially compared to today).

Since then it has been increasingly bad, bad, bad.

George H.W. Bush—Mediocre bureaucrat

Bill Clinton — Very Bad and Dishonest

George W. Bush — Heart was in the right place, but not a very good president. Rolled over and did nothing once the Democrats took control of Congress. Economic collapse then began almost immediately.

Barack Obama — By far the most worst president in our country’s history. Incompetent, arrogant, stupid, lazy, dishonest and corrupt.

Unfortunately, I think Hillary is much worse than Obama. If he wasn’t so lazy he could have done far more damage. But she is nasty and vicious and will certainly subject the whole country to the kind of extortion she has excelled at so far.

How right you are. My sentiments exactly on your rating these presidents. I could be a better president than Hillary.....if we’re unfortunate enough to see her in the Oval she’ll immediately start her campaign of getting even on her enemies. She’s nuts! I pray for God’s grace in this election, the He will answer our prayers.

Got my monthly haircut today. My barber asked who I’m voting for.

I would not be brave enough to answer that question from a barber until after the hair cut.

” Today we have more 3rd world immigrants for example.”

And that of course is the reason that America is sliding left.

California is now a leftwing bastion in large measure due to the 1986 Amnesty that Reagan agreed to sign. That, and mass legal immigration from the 3rd world.

Even very successful 3rd world immigrants vote to the left of native stock Americans. We are fostering our own destruction, immigrating ourselves out of existence. The 1965 immigration act lit the fuse and the Stupid Party fights any effort at putting it out.

Maybe some of you expected to see a state poll with Trump up by 11 a week out, but I didn't. And I will guarantee you the Hillary camp didn't expect to see it. And they may try say, "Well, of course. It's Indiana. Of course."

Um well they would right. Romney won Indiana by 10.2%

I’ve only known red for conservative. I like it. Red to me looks powerful, good, right while blue says weak, sissy, pansy, liberal. I’m sure I’d feel differently if I had been old enough to see blue for GOP, but I’d be disappointed if they changed them now.

Agreed.

Red is a powerful color. It exudes alpha male energy. It awakens our physical life force.

Red is the response color. It is the best choice when you want attention.

Red is high energy. It motivates people to take action!

Red is the color of good luck.
