The headline as crafted by the editor is blatantly false (no fault of yours my FRiend). It was designed to get hits. The story says Russia might put Norway on its target list.

That’s like saying the Russians said they will nuke New York when all it means is that NY is on a target list.

Agree but posted it to get everyone war-gaming this.

That way we can get our counter narrative out.

Are the prevailing winds west to east in that part of Europe?

If so they would be irradiating parts of Russia—not a good plan. ;-)

“Russia threatens to NUKE Norway in response to allowing US Marines to deploy in the country

Headline ^^^^^

First Sentence vvvvvvvvvv

“Norway has been warned by a senior Russian politician that it could now be a nuclear target after it allowed for the deployment of 330 US Marines.”

BIG DIFFERENCE - in being a nuclear ‘target’ than threatening to nuke. IRRESPONSIBLE HEADLINE All enemy targets are subject to being nuked...just as Russian troops are nuke targets for us, no matter where they are.

Well his harsh threat to incinerate Norwegians sure conflicts with Putin’s softer reasonable tone ;n)

deploying CVNs in the Baltic is not a good idea.

Or near it.

During WWII, the British had a carrier doing duty off of Norway. The fine folks at Bletchley Park decoded SigInt that indicated the KMS Scharnhorst et al were cruising down to engage the British ships, and promptly informed the Admiralty, which ignored the warning.

The British lost the carrier, and a handful of other ships.

Better late than never, the Admiralty started paying attention to Bletchley Park.

“Norway has been warned by a senior Russian politician that it could now be a nuclear target after it allowed for the deployment of 330 US Marines.”

Is not the same as:

“Russia threatens to NUKE Norway in response to allowing US Marines to deploy in the country”

Jesus it’s like this is the age of Yellow journalism in the early 1900s.

Yet another glorious day for the USMC. Two companies of Marine grunts arrive, and someone concludes that nukes will be needed to stop them.

What’s up with the “half & half” camo? Someone lost all the helmets and jackets that go with those pants?

“Russia threatens to NUKE Norway ..."

Yeah, yeah. Look up the "Black Brant Incident". Basically, the Russians were notified in advance of a joint US-Norwegian scientific rocket launch, but the Russian bureaucracy neglected to pass the information down to their early warning radar grunts.

The Russians thought the single "missile" was an EMP precursor attack, and went to full alert, and were a minute or two away from responding.

Norway is so remote and mountainous, and I’m sure their forces are so spread out, that I doubt that Russia would be willing or able to expend the nukes required to neutralize Norway’s military.

Norway is part of NATO. Norway is a normal training ground for American forces. We are pledged to treat any attack on Norway as an attack on the United States. Russia can go and f*** themselves. That is all.

330 US marines against an empire that cant feed its own people. Seems like a fair fight but, since Im the kind who would always plan to win, I would have sent 333.

Norways already unleashed the destructive power of African Muslim immigration. In a few years it will look like Lagos.

I remember it...and I remember Bill Clinton saying something like: “Did WW3 start? So what’s the problem?”

Not sure how that incident pertains to this crappy headline, though.

Mr Klintsevich told Russia's TV2 channel the Kremlin viewed the 330 Marines in Norway as a direct military threat.

Yep, even just a couple would be. :)

On the serious side, Russia doesn't want a World War. It is Hillary and Obama who are threats to world peace.
