FBI agents knew of Clinton-related emails weeks before director was briefed

The FBI agents investigating Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server knew early this month that messages recovered in a separate probe might be germane to their case, but they waited weeks before briefing the FBI director, according to people familiar with the case.

FBI Director James B. Comey has written that he was informed of the development Thursday, and he sent a letter to legislators the next day letting them know that he thought the team should take "appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails."

Not a lot of trust in their director, eh?

Nope. And probably for good reason.

This is just part of the lying pushback from the Clinton and Obama team.....it’s all about the narrative now...the FBI is trying to put Trump in office!

Sounds like Comey’s own staff knew not to give him this info too early. They might have to resign or be fired, but it was probably the right call.

Comey still has time to bury it.
We’ll see what his staff do next.
They are the ones who will determine this either by action or inaction.

If NYPD were not involved, and the British press had not covered the news (before there was a hint in our media)...we may not have ever heard of this.

I don’t believe our officials or our media would have done anything or reported on this if they were not in a position where they really have to do something.

I am convinced whether anything comes of all of this depends entirely on Trump being elected. I feel sure that he will be, but if for some reason he is not this will all go away faster than we can say abracadabra...

That’s what I got from it. They held it back until just the right time and then took it to him with an ultimatum. Fits in with the revelations that they were all disgusted with his previous decision to not indict. They had to leave him no way out this time.

I think Comey’s arm is still hurting from being twisted the first time, and that this time he did a little “play action” to give the arm twisters less room to maneuver as the clock runs down on the election. Under extreme pressure he gave them what they wanted, and now he is going to make them pay for it.

Notice the propaganda in this article. They spin the decision for agents to hide the new info from director into a deliberate action to hit Hillary late in the election.

Other stories with this headline know tell the truth. And that is that agents at the FBI do not trust their director.

Yes. No surprise but you have put your finger squarely on the major item that we learn from this article. It does sound like the troops withheld knowledge of the laptop from Comey for several weeks.

This is just too, too sweet.

The Trump camp had to know, Rudy Giuliani mentioned early in the week on Fox news that something big would be coming down this weekend.

“It is unclear why - given the Clinton email team knew for weeks that they might have cause to resume their work - they did not tell Comey sooner.”

possibly because they were cloning a gazillion copies of the laptop HD and squirreling them away everywhere under the sun before letting the corrupt administration know about what they found?

There is a lot of talk around DC that there are FBI agents from the investigation approaching members of Congress, looking for whistleblower protection.
