I think there is one potential wild card here. The Weiner investigation wasn’t just the feds...it involves NYPD. What if the NYPD found the ‘device’...logged it as evidence...had a tech access it...and found emails that were so obviously classified, that they contacted the FBI.

Could Comey risk ignoring it, or covering it up? At this point, he wouldn’t know for sure whether or not the NYPD made a copy, etc.

I think the scenario you presented is EXACTLY what unfolded here. The Feds probably weren't even involved in the Weiner investigation for sending those lewd messages with his child sitting next to him -- it was just an NYPD case at the time.

Here's something else to consider ...

If the NYPD turned Weiner's iPhone and/or call records over to the FBI, the FBI probably wasn't even the first ones they notified. Ten bucks says the Trump campaign knew about this before the FBI did ... and that they got the information from NYPD sources who are still well-connected with Rudy Giuliani through his private consulting practice in New York City.

I bet you are right. The NYPD was investigating pedophilia by Carlos Danger and found classified information along with the pictures him exposing his schlong with his kid in the background and sending the schlong picture to a 15 year old girl. That is a lot to say in one breath. Jimmy the Weasel Comey was forced to reopen the investigation or NYPD would spill the beans.

There are several hands here. The SVU of the NYPD and its IT people, if they got the computers and devices first. There is a lot oF anger at DeBlasio in the service so that may transfer to Clinton, but one of the primR players is the office of the NYS AG, Schneidermann, who is all but a dues paying Red. So it is doubtful he would have let this get out, even to the FBI.

That's certainly possible though if there's something more significant that previous disclosures there, I wonder if he can count on the FBI not to leak. Then there are NY prosecutors.

Another wildcard, think back to the Rose law firm billing records. Hidden in the closet in the White House living quarters. If Hillary wanted something hidden, but like Nixon available for future personal use, books and such, where would she hide it? Huma would be top of the list. Similarly fearing personal liability, could Huma have kept a digital version of Monica's blue dress? And if significant, it all came out because Anthony couldn't restrain himself from sexting under age teens.
