"American History, as currently taught in mainline public schools, is unrecognizable to you and me."

CORRECTION: History - of any kind - is not taught in public schools. One of the reasons is that the teachers are entirely ignorant of history, having come though the same system themselves.

Have you seen the FIRST movie?

After the customary distributor agreement expired, the movie was withdrawn from theatrical and TV distribution channels by Orwell's estate and has not been obtainable legally for many years.

...the U.S. lost its moral claim to any right to exist decades ago.

Four plus of them...

This where you just want to yank your hair out.
We conservatives have been talking about this for decades.
I have asked my kids,”What do they teach you in school?” They say, “They teach us to pass tests”.
No...
They don’t have history tests either.

See my tagline....pretty much sums it up. For the record, I teach American and European history and culture at a community college. The lack of historical knowledge among undergraduate college students is nothing short of appalling.

And you know they don’t know that the Repubican Party was anti-slavery.

The Mumbai born Dinesh D’Souza knows more about American history than the native born. Which wouldn’t be bad if they didn’t seem so proud of their ignorance.

Yes, I agree with your timeline...maybe even sooner if Hillary gets in the WH.

I have been bemoaning the degradation of our educational system for probably 40 years...and I did my best as a teacher of undergrads and graduate students to teach deductive reasoning, etc. ...it was not appreciated by the touchie/feelie contingent because too many minority students failed all the while they did not notice the American Indians I taught were as excellent academically as the best white students.

You are so right in your “simple” analysis.
