This is what passes as a serious issue these days. A religion in decline produces a bunch of mindless whining and pestering busy bodies fussing over every little trivial things for any sign of blasphemy. On the other hand, it is a kind of easy to do, making many feel that they are doing something without putting investing their time and efforts.
“This is what passes as a serious issue these days. A religion in decline . . .”
You’re right about Christianity as a religion in decline, both in Europe and to a lesser extent the US, but as it declines, so does the vitality of the Western culture it largely produced. You might consider that just a coincidence or (as many do), you might see those phenomena as intimately related - in which case the decline of Christianity isn’t just a “serious issue”, it may just be the most serious issue of our time.
Or maybe I’m just totally off-base - but at least we can expect to see if a Europe based on materialistic secularism trying to come to terms with Islamism works out better than what was once known for hundreds of years as Christendom.
