Honestly, best idea is to sit in and keep your stuff locked up with a gun ready. IT’ll blow over. Whatever you risk your life for in the SHTF/WROL situation shouldn’t be something so slight as your neighborhood being trashed.
Now if a neighbor, friend or relative is in trouble get there and don’t let anyone stop you. But most of the time the strategy / tactic is to bunker down. It WILL pass.
No good can come of getting in the fray.
Other than that, try to find FR posts from Katrina. We had a few Freepers here from NOLA who wrote blogs about their experiences. And I think 2 of them actually braved the chaos to rescue people and get them out of the area. Harrowing stuff. I recall some guy with a dog, and I would love him to post more stuff.
