Texans Shatter Turnout Records in First Day of Voting

Texans turned out in record numbers on the first day of early voting for the 2016 General Election. Harris County led the way with over 67,000 ballots cast.

“I was shocked,” Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart told Breitbart Texas Monday night. “We prepared for a large turnout by increasing polling locations and the number of machines in key locations, but we were still surprised by how many people actually came out.” Stanart said his team reacted quickly by sending additional equipment to places were poll workers were becoming inundated with voters.

Harris County had 67,471 people show up to vote in person in the county’s 42 polling locations, Stanart said. An additional 61,543 people mailed in absentee ballots as of Monday’s poll closing time. Monday’s in-person total eclipsed the 2012 record by more than 20,000 votes (47,093).

Harris County is not the only one breaking turnout records. Dallas County election officials reported 58,337 first-day in-person votes in a report obtained by Breitbart Texas. That bested the 2008 first-day record turnout of 34,415. Tarrant County also set a new record with 43,149 turning out to break their 2012 record of 30,133, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

State Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) encouraged Texans to continue to show up at the polls.

“There is an old saying that every nation gets the government it deserves,” she said in an email sent out to voters. “We are in the midst of a referendum in this country, between those who seek to promote liberty and those who seek to stifle it. Plenty of men and women have died to give you the right to vote, so do your part. Make your voice heard, or suffer the consequences.”

The state’s largest Democratic Party-controlled county, Travis, more than doubled its previous record for early voting

So much for the MSM polls. Their turnout assumptions are getting blown out of the water.

An eye witness report on site by an official poll watcher:

On Hannity there was a lady poll watcher from Arlington Texas on the phone and she said that the early voter turnout is off-the-wall! From the many years that she has been an offical poll watcher she has only seen this kind of turnout twice once for Obama and the other for these past prime aries. But nothing like this this early for voting ... she was saying that the enthusiasm for Trying ump is off the charts and she has never seen anything like this before ..streams of people constantly..though mind you this is a red County but nonetheless the enthusiasm is probably nationwide!

Voter fraud is massive and not unlike socialist Banana Republics in South America, Aftrica....

If we had an honest election, Trump would win in a landslide.

Not D +6 to D +9 in early voting.

I was expecting Ds to turn out in huge numbers to crush Trump.

Perhaps they’re staying home because they’ve been told its over and Hillary has it in the bag?

This is a turnout election and Rs are certainly showing up. In the end, that’s all that really matters.

I got in line about 1pm. There were about 30 people in front of me and I had to wait about 15 minutes to vote. It was not too ethnic, but I was wondering why people take so long to vote.

There were not many red shirts. The U of H Cougars have lost their last 2 games.

Maybe they are staying home because the WikiLeaks releases have greatly perturbed them.

I'm sorry, but if the idea of early voting is to avoid long lines or to be able to vote on a weekend, then this brings into doubt the vaunted commonsense of the average Texan.

Early voting is basically evil. It may be a convenience for some, but it is a great opportunity for massive voter fraud along with electronic voting, vote by mail, etc.

We are now officially a banana republic. We need to revert back to the methods they use in third world countries where everyone votes on the same weekend and gets one of their fingers dipped in purple ink.

One (living) person, one vote.
