Tom Hayden has passed away at 76 and the New York Times obituary recalled him as a civil rights and anti-war activist. That bears little resemblance to the real person, especially in regard to Vietnam.

The conflict pitted the Communist North, backed by the Soviet Union, against the non-Communist South, backed by the United States. Many Americans opposed U.S. involvement in the conflict, for a variety of reasons.

American POWs were kept in cages and punished with tortures such as the pretzel. The POWs legs were tied together and arms laced tightly behind his back until the elbows touched. Then the torturer would push the bound arms up and over the head. But the torture wasnt all physical.

Hubby was part of Frequent Wind when they were pulling the AMB out, as Navy never set foot on Nam so is an Era Vet. My cousin limps to this day. Had quite a few serve then. Some made careers out of the Military like my husband did 20 yrs Ret as a SCPO in the 80’s.

Asked Hubby (Vietnam vet) if he saw Tom Hayden died. He said....can’t you tell I’m celebrating? lol
He went to Czechoslovakia in 1968 and met with communist representatives of the Viet Cong who were killing his countrymen in Vietnam. This was when the Soviet Army invaded Czechoslovakia to put down a democratic revolt against their puppet government.
He embraced the VC and shouted “ I am a Viet Cong! We are all Viet Cong!”
He was not an “anti-war activist” as falsely described by The Corrupt Liberal Media. He was an anti-American activist. A cheerleader for the Communist armies killing his countrymen in a long and bitter war. And a sign of things to come in the “progressive” wing of the Democratic Party.
