Some facts about Hayden you WILL NOT find in the mainstream media.
He was a hardcore communist. Period. No crap about being a liberal Democrat (maybe once when he was in SLID (Student League for Industrial Democracy), but that didn’t last long.
His trip to Hanoi in 1965 with communist posing as a pacifist Dave Dellinger and Communist Party USA theoretician Herbert Aptheker was a key contact set-up by Hanoi with the US Left.
In October, 1973, Hayden, Fonda and their baby Troi came back from a meeting with the PRG/VC/NLF and Hanoi reps in Paris with Hanoi’s marching orders for the US anti-Vietnam movement led by Hayden and his Indochina Peace Campaign.
He told an audience at the Germantown, Ohio peace conference meeting that the Communists “had told him that they wanted him “ to do (listed protests and lobbying efforts in Congress).
This was Hayden’s first real admission that he was taking his marching orders from Hanoi. The only real mention of this occurred in Human Events weekly (I wrote part of it) and “The Pink Sheet on the Left” newsletter. I think there was a blurb about it in the Dayton, Ohio newspaper but it was nothing relevant.
Hayden carried out covert contacts with Hanoi thru a new front, the Friends of Indochina/newsletter, which came out of the Indochina Resource Center’s old newsletter which folded in late 1975 and reemerged partially in the Indochina Chronicles (I think that is the correct title).
FOI only lasted for a little while but their admissions of supporting Hanoi were devastating. In fact, one of the three women who wrote the newsletter (Carol Kurtz, Anne Gallivan, and another Carol) is still around the DC/VA area in some kind of history project on the 1960’s protests. Boy was she something to see. Long, beautiful hair down to her knees. Still she was a little strange.
Hayden was also a sponsor of a serious Communist Party USA legal front known as the “National Emergency Civil Liberties Committee” (NECLC), officially cited by Congress as a CP operation.
Hayden was also denounced by one of his closet comrades, Fred Gardner, as wanting to be the leader of an American Marxist party. This analysis was similar to what Manning Johnson said about the covert Soviet operative/CPUSA member Paul Robeson, in that he envisioned himself becoming the “American Stalin”.
Hayden was the smartest of the Hanoi Lobby leaders, exceeding Prof. Sid Peck, CPUSA-offspring/Hanoi operative Cora Weiss, fake CO Dave Dellinger, and even Rennie Davis.
There was a documentary made in 1988 by a former VP of CBS named Mosley or something like that entitled “The Unauthorized Autobiography of Jane Fonda”. It appeared nationally on the old Arts & Entertainment (A&E) network, as well as on a local station in the DC area.
Don’t know if it is available anywhere but there was a short segment on who Hayden was, featuring none other than moi, MadMax in my first national film. Autographs for free with a self-addressed/stamped envelope.
Hayden was the Willi Munzenbuger (sp?) (NKVD - Stalin’s top agent) of Hanoi’s propaganda movement and protests in the U.S.
As I have written to friends before, never underestimate how good Hayden was as a North Vietnamese agent.
With that said, the bastard is death and he’s not coming back.
My philosophy for traitors like him is a very simple one,
“Outlive the bastards, keep better files, and piss on their graves”.
Since I can’t get to wherever in Hell he is going to reside, I will go out in the backyard and piss on some poison ivy. That will be a fitting tribute to this traitor.
You would think, with such an enormous amount of evidence out there on the communist movement, then and now, that it should be fairly easy to make a legal case for treason. I’m nowhere near being an attorney, but I think even I could do it.
