The Hawk on Russia Policy? Hillary Clinton, Not Donald Trump
NYTimes ^ | October 20, 2016 | David E. Sanger

Posted on 10/22/2016 2:31:46 PM PDT by Beautiful_Gracious_Skies

Hillary Clinton made it abundantly clear Wednesday night that if she defeats Donald J. Trump next month she will enter the White House with the most contentious relationship with Russia of any president in more than three decades, and with a visceral, personal animus toward Vladimir V. Putin, its leader.

“We haven’t seen a you-can’t-trust-these-guys tone like this since the days of Ronald Reagan,” said Stephen Sestanovich, who served in President Bill Clinton’s State Department and is the author of “Maximalist: America in the World from Truman to Obama.” “But even that was more a systemic criticism of the Soviet Union. This is focused on Putin himself.”

In a reversal of political roles, Mrs. Clinton, is the one portraying Mr. Putin as America’s newest archenemy, whose underlings hack into her Brooklyn campaign headquarters, bomb Syrian civilians and threaten Ukraine and NATO allies in Europe. For a woman who presented a big red “reset” button to her Russian counterpart in March 2009 (with the word incorrectly translated into Russian), the change in tone was more striking than ever in her debate with Donald J. Trump.

She, and the Obama White House, insist they were on the right course until Putin decided he had more to gain from reviving Cold War tensions than from a quarter-century effort to integrate with the West. Now, much of the Democratic foreign policy establishment has become as hawkish as Clinton on the subject of Russia, a view almost certain to outlast the campaign.

Privately, some of her longtime advisers are already thinking about what mix of sanctions, diplomatic isolation and international condemnation they might put together if they take office to deal with Putin and the fragile economic state he runs, an update of the “containment” strategy that George Kennan formulated for President Truman in 1947.

I agree with DJT.

The ‘wonderful’ quote was from the final line of the NYT story; we can only excerpt 300 words.

Remember her husbands administration helped Russia transition to capitalism? Advisers were sent over and they auctioned off State enterprises for kopecks on the ruble. The oligarchs were made billionaires overnight.

There is no love over there for the 1st family crime syndicate.

is odd that the left in this country hate Russia so much now ever since it stopped deifying Marx and Lenin, and began allowing its own people to openly practice their faith.

Bullsh*t. If the Russians really now despise communism, why do they continue propping up and having close military alliances with communist regimes like North Korea, Red China, and numerous Marxist dictatorships in Latin America?

How Russia arms America's southern neighbors

Ioan Grillo
May 9, 2014

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Russia's push into Ukraine has put many on edge. But less known is that Russia is also strengthening its military links south of the Rio Grande and re-establishing itself as a power in the region.

Vladimir Putin has been strengthening military links here, and Russia is now the largest arms dealer to governments in Latin America, surpassing the United States.

Russia has even floated the possibility of building new military bases in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and putting its warships permanently in the Caribbean.

In the midst of the Ukraine crisis, Russia's top diplomat Sergei Lavrov recently visited Cuba, Peru, Chile, and Nicaragua, where he announced that Russia would also pour money into the new Central American canal project. ..."

Russia Boosts Arms, Training for Leftist Latin Militaries

Moscow defense minister inks deals with Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua for joint exercises

BY: Bill Gertz
February 20, 2015

Russia agreed to provide military training for three leftist regimes in Latin America and increase military visits and exercises following a visit last week to the region by Moscow's Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu, Pentagon officials said.

Shoygu met with defense and military leaders in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua and signed several agreements on warship visits and military training during the visit, which ran from Feb. 11 to 14. It is not clear whether any new arms deals were completed during the visit.

Defense officials said the Russian leader is seeking bases in the region for strategic bomber flights that Shoygu recently promised would include flights over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.

Did Communism Fake Its Own Death in 1991?
American Thinker ^ | January 16, 2010 | Jason McNew

In a [] 1984 book [New Lies for Old], ex-KGB Major Anatoliy Golitsyn predicted the liberalization of the Soviet Bloc and claimed that it would be a strategic deception. ..."

"Golitsyn's argument was that beginning in about 1960, the Soviet Union embarked on a strategy of massive long-range strategic deception which would span several decades and result in the destruction of Western capitalism and the erection of a communist world government."

"Golitsyn published his second book, The Perestroika Deception, after the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991. This book contained further analysis of the liberalization, in addition to previously classified memoranda submitted by Golitsyn to the CIA. The two books must be read together to get a complete picture of Golitsyn's thesis."

Russia 'to revive the KGB' after Putin wins biggest majority

Telegraph (UK) ^ | 19 September 2016 • 3:39PM | Marc Bennetts

Russia plans effectively to revive the KGB under a massive shake-up of its security forces, a respected business daily has reported.

A State Security Ministry, or MGB, would be created from the current Federal Security Service (FSB) , and would incorporate the foreign intelligence service (SVR) and the state guard service (FSO), under the plans. It would be handed all-encompassing powers once possessed by the KGB, the Kommersant newspaper said, citing security service sources.

Like the much-feared KGB, it would also oversee the prosecutions of Kremlin critics, a task currently undertaken by the Investigative Committee, headed by Alexander Bastrykin, a former university classmate of President Putin.

The Kremlin has not commented. ...

"For 16 years Putin was an officer in the KGB, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before he retired to enter politics in his native Saint Petersburg in 1991.

He moved to Moscow in 1996 and joined President Boris Yeltsin's administration where he rose quickly, becoming Acting President on 31 December 1999 when Yeltsin unexpectedly resigned. Putin won the subsequent 2000 presidential election, despite widespread accusations of vote-rigging,[3] and was reelected in 2004."

"On 25 July 1998, Yeltsin appointed Vladimir Putin head of the FSB (one of the successor agencies to the KGB), the position Putin occupied until August 1999. He became a permanent member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on 1 October 1998 and its Secretary on 29 March 1999."

So are you saying a former senior KGB officer like Putin isn’t aware of the devastation which could come to the United States if a neo-con puppet like Hillary continues Obama’s provocations?

Isn’t aware of the devastation which could come to the United States? Not sure I understand the question. But Putin would like nothing more than for total devastation to come to the United States, as we are their primary obstacle in their quest to restore the Soviet Union, and then-some once he grabs control of the strategic resource-rich Middle East. This in addition to his present/ongoing attempts at retaking Eastern Europe, and various buildups in Latin America.

Question for you: Why do you suppose, if they (the O admin) really view Russia as they make out they do, would they have substantially helped build them up militarily, while at the same time all-but dismantling our military? Do you really think this was done out of "incompetence" or "inexperience" on Obama and Co's part?

Who paid Bill Clinton's $2.5 million commission & $500,000 speaking fee (US uranium to Russia)

qura.com ^ | July 27, 2016 | Sierra Spaulding

Who paid Bill Clinton's $2.5 million commission and $500k speaking fee for brokering the sale of 20% of America's uranium deposits to Russia? You are speaking about a really interesting deal that ended up giving Vladimir Putin and the Russians control of one-fifth of all uranium production capacity in the United States.

Since uranium is considered a strategic asset, with implications for national security, the deal had to be approved by a committee composed of representatives from a number of United States government agencies. ..."

The ONLY reason Hillary hates Russia, is because they may be the ONLY intelligence resource which she doesn’t influence. They hold the goods on Hillary and she knows it, so she demonizes them. It’s the stereotypical method the Clintons have always used when facing their adversaries.

Hillary tends to be Marxist and if anything would play Russia against China to synthesize her own flavor of tyranny.

I am taking a careful look at my bucket list.

It is all about the balance.

Russia will never be our “friend”. We can’t have “friends”, only “interests”.

HOWEVER, Islam is the real enemy.

Sure, “the problem wasn’t that the Russians were communists, it;s that the communists were Russians”, which is to say they aren’t fools, chess is a spectator sport there, as with China, the fact that they had an insane communist regime for 60 years or so doesn’t change the fact that they aren’t backward rubes. And the Russians leave far more direct experience of the “religion of peace” than we do. Putin and the Russians know Islam is the enemy, thus we can work with them.

Saying that we should work with Putin to eliminate, or at least marginalize Islam is entirely different from being a ‘Putinista’.

“”she will enter the White House with the most contentious relationship with Russia of any president in more than three decades””

Nonsense - she will go to bed with one view and before she gets up in the night for her first bathroom visit, she will have another view. By morning, that will equate to approximately 5-6 changes of opinion since she went to bed. By 9 am she still won’t know where she stands.
