I carried a rape whistle for a couple of years back when I was twenty something. Now I just carry if you know what I mean. Also they told us to always check in the back seat of the car we were getting into. I have a sports car.... no back seat.
Tennis shoes do little good on a subway. Belly guns however, really work well in this environment. When I say “belly” I mean his belly, not yours.
Sorry you have had to put up with all of this.
I had a conversation with my daughter and a couple of her friends recently. And they concluded that I don’t know what it’s like to be a girl. One of the girls said she gets hassled by men all the time, and I had to concede that I have never been so hassled by women, when I’m out in public, just going about my business.
Not to excuse the boorish behavior of some men. I don’t know if that behavior is worse nowadays than before. As noted, as a man, I would never have experienced being a woman and being the target of unwanted attention from men.
