A carrier fleet will do its very best to surveil for enemy sub activity, without a doubt.

We cannot assure defense against latest generation of hypersonic missiles. Both China and Russia HSM’s are achieving speeds of Mach 10+
Throw in tactical nuclear war heads like those on the “Sunburn” missile series, and it’s a carrier captain’s worse nightmare.

Our military planners, contractors and DARPA have given our navy incredible CV defense capability.
However, adversaries have a much easier job of destroying a 1.5+ Billion dollar vessel with a precise lethal multi-million dollar hypersonic missile.

We can agree Semen-hydrant Bill Clinton greatly aided China’s missile program advance with his Loral technology transfer in 1995.

Carriers are the naval version of army big tank obsolescence.
Offensive missile capability eventually renders the best defensive capability ineffective.

If Naval combatant are shooting nukes at each other then there are much bigger issues going on.
