One other thing about NC is that we do have a paper trail in case an election is contested. The ballots are counted and should be the same number as the digital number. This still allows for software/hardware sabotage, but the paper trail helps.

Some states do not keep a paper trail.

paper is easy to cheat.

The first person is a throwaway vote and comes out with the paper ballot.

The fixer fills in the paper ballot.

The next person takes in the filled paper ballot, votes via scan and brings out their blank paper ballot.

The fixer pays for the blank ballot and the process repeats.
