Thanks for that info about “Progressive” Al Smith, linked to Tammany Hall. Whoa... OK, now I get why the crowd is mostly liberal. Silly me... I always thought it was kind of a pro-Catholic bipartisan event.

I had no idea who Al Smith was.
When I saw that on Wikipedia it made sense to me and seemed like something that should be mentioned(although the extremely well read original FR peeps probably knew that info already...)
