A draft bill on a second independence referendum has been published by the Scottish government after the first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, pledged to hold a new poll in the event of a hard Brexit in a direct challenge to Theresa May.

The draft legislation, which was formally unveiled by the constitution secretary, Derek Mackay, despite the Scottish parliament being in recess until next week, sets out proposals for the rules governing the campaign, the conduct of the poll and how votes are counted.

Mackay said the proposed franchise would be the same as for the Scottish parliament. “That will mean two important groups of people would have a voice denied to them in the recent referendum on EU membership: 16- and 17-year-olds and citizens of EU countries who have made Scotland their home.”

Go for it Scotland! Once England is no longer obligated to support you, you’ll get to see just how well your addiction to socialism will feed you.

Ach Mel Gibson, what have ye wrought?

Vastly over simplified I know, but the coincidence does seem to be there!

May has already slapped Sturgeon down by saying she has ‘no mandate’. Not only are constitutional matters reserved to Westminster, but she did not campaign for the 2016 Scottish election on a specific promise to give a referendum, and she no longer has an SNP majority. She’s got no mandate, and no majority and no constitutional authority to hold a legal referendum.

This could be interesting. There is also talk that Northern Ireland may withdraw so they can join the European Union.

I don’t know who “Scotsman” is, there was a freeper “The Scotsman” sadly he got the Z not long ago. I disagreed with him often but appreciated his perspective.

I support this for the same reason I’d support kicking NY and New England out of the US, sad as it would be to lose the positives, joyous it would be to lose all the democrat Congressman and Senators and electoral votes and RINO sleaze.

NI, I would divide, 2 counties, Antrim and Down, clearly wish to say in the UK, the rest would probably vote to leave and join Ireland and the PU.
