"Clinton was impeached but it wasn’t confirmed."

No such critter. One is either Impeached or they are not. There is no "confirmation" process.

Once a person is successfully Impeached there is a session in the Senate where the Impeachment is considered and a trial ensues presided over by The Chief Justice and then a vote to see if they are guilty or not of the impeachment requiring a two thirds majority to convict. If found guilty then a punishment is decided usually removal from office but it is not the only possible punishment. If a two thirds majority is not reached then there is no punishment and the defendant is acquitted.

Paleo Pete “Clinton was impeached but it wasn’t confirmed.”

Close enough for someone exhausted. ‘Removed’, confirmed — we know he knows.

Pete went to bed if I’m not mistaken.

Good explanation.

Summary: Impeachment is a formal accusation. If impeached, then a trial with the possibility of removal.

Clinton was impeached but not removed.
