That may have accelerated it, but according to BAD – Or, The Dumbing of America (Paul Fussell, 1991), the practice had started before BJ Clinton.

______________

Oh, I agree. But something in funding really turned up the heat.

Yep.

I had no idea land grant colleges apparently still get part of their operating budget from the feds, giving them a slightly different legal status. Never occurred to me, and I used to work at Iowa State.

Most Charter Schools are only effective for a few years. The liberals take over the Boards after a few years and things go back to normal.

College teachers are in the Union too?

Sure. Clintonista Larry Summers lost his sinecure at Harvard because he dared to expect the faculty to show up and teach.

Well, that, and saying there might be a difference between boys and girls.

Any way, the liberal arts faculty managed to force his departure. The b/g thing was the final straw. He had previously strongly suggested to Cornel West that he spend more of his time teaching, in class, rather than rapping in a recording studio, and attempted to do something positive in the Education school.

Summers was, and still is, a leftist political tool, just not enough of one to suit the moon bat faculty. Harvard's endowment suffered under the hyper spender Summers, btw.

Great quote, true and succinct.

We have entered a new era in America.

I don't know what to call it, or what the history books will call it, but it is 100% attributable to Donald Trump's entry into Presidential politics.

THIS YEAR ALONE .. and specifically the last couple of months, the American people have had a thousand times more, but of similar import, the likes of The Federalist Papers, Poor Richard's Almanac and the quotes of such patriots as Nathan Hale and Patrick Henry, all delivered at the instantaneous speed of computers and modern technology.

Public sector unions have taken over this state. They put the idiot in the Governors Mansion and now they’ve stacked our Supreme Court. They will destroy this state in defense of pensions.

At the affected universities, I doubt many faculty make big bucks with a low workload. These are places like Slippery Rock, not Penn State.

So the students will get a reprieve from their indoctrination process for a few days while these worthless turds get a pay increase.

Maybe grad students will take up the slack. Good luck to her.

I had a one-year job (visiting assistant professor) replacing someone on leave at one of those universities back in the 1980s...regular faculty were well-paid because of the union. Students were about the worst I ever encountered (lazy and apathetic) but maybe they are better at some of the other universities in the system. Would not have wanted to spend my whole career there.

maybe, but speaking as a former grad assistant myself, they are fairly useless. ;~) Thank you.
