Pretty much true, although we vote for electors of a particular political party, and those electors are mostly bound to vote for the party's ticket. And "mostly" is closer to "near certainty." While there have been faithless electors, that phenomenon is exceptional in practice.

That story isn’t national news yet. It’ll be interesting to see how Wallace handles it tonight, if he does at all. You know if it were allegations against Trump that they’d be the first thing he asks about.
It’s a close race, despite everything other polls say. A tracking poll is easy to overanalyze. Close is good. We have an enthusiasm edge and with it, a turnout edge. Win another debate tonight then stay on message and close strong. It’s all he can do. It’s up to us now.
I will say it again, now for about the 10th time. Look at the graph, people. You will see it takes about a WEEK for a newsworthy event to be reflected in this poll. What was going on last week? All those women that came out to accuse Trump of “sexual assault”. This big swing is a reflection of that. It may get worse tomorrow, regardless of the debate tonight because the debate’s results won’t reflect in this poll until NEXT WEEK. Many of Trump’s accusers have been debunked, which may be reflected in this poll in a couple of days.
Has the debunking gotten even a tenth of the attention from the mainstream media that the accusations got?

The NE story by itself won’t change anything. There needs to be more evidence independent of the NE for this to have any impact. Drudge implied there would be more, but unless there is more that forces the MSM to cover it, they will ignore it like they have for the most part with the Wikileaks releases and the NE story will be dismissed as tabloid trash.
The corruption charges don’t stick to her except with us.
The tape/women (just did a long post on those accusations if the moderator approves) are sticking to Trump.
I’m trying to think of what headline could be hurting Trump because this decrease is after the tape/women, and I’m thinking that it’s his complaint the election is rigged. We know there are cases of voter fraud, and we know the media is in the tank for Hillary. However, I think it might look like sour grapes to some independents.
Yeah, those 20% are going to be in for a rude awakening if Trump loses because people aren’t going to back their establishment candidate in 2020.

Because the news isn’t getting reported, only negative news about Trump and his “rigged election” statement. Trump needs to run ads in battleground states and keep hitting her hard with this info in the debate.
