Way to Go Donald Trump! Maybe he will push an Article V Convention of States too!
He can certainly provide moral leadership and facilities for people to come together under Article V.
Nothing stops a President Trump from proposing or reviewing work product from convention delegates.
Don’t let anyone get off with saying it will lead to a runaway convention. That’s a falsity because it takes 3/4s of states to ratify any amendment which means 38 states necessary.
It also means 13 states can stop any amendment. And as of now we have 12 solid blue states. But as happened under Reagan, a lot of the blue states can go purple. And under a President Trump these purples can go red enough to ratify especially with a strong populist leader like President Trump.
And for America’s sake, WE MUST NOT ALLOW DC TO HAVE STATEHOOD for reasons that should be obvious.
Keep in mind that the wording is crucial. When drafting an amendment, the drafters MUST LOOK INTO THE FUTURE and think how people can abuse any wording. There will be attempts to reinterpret, so the wording has to be so clear.
