Seems to me the final polls were closer than that.
Close enough that every Reagan supporter went to vote, not depressed by too-negative polls.
I still think the same thing will happen again, now 36 years later.
But it is getting a liiiiiiiiiiiiitle late in the game...
A good debate would help the Trump side.
My understanding is that the final Reagan-Carter poll taken, on Monday before the election, showing Reagan with a tiny lead, which was the very first time they showed him leading, was not released to the public until after the election.
I think the people are more polarized than ever. I doubt there are as many undecideds as they say. And I doubt there are any people that are going to change their minds.
I think the people planning to vote for Trump will crawl over broken glass to vote for him (or against Clinton). I expect high turnout - for Trump at least.
If the tape-gate scandal failed to change people’s minds, I don’t think anything will.
I think the debates are stupid - all he has to do is “survive” this last debate without his pants falling down, and he’ll retain whatever support he has now.
The question is, how much support does he have? Hopefully, the polls are wrong, and other indicators suggesting a lot of Trump support, such as yard signs, rally attendance and enthusiasm, etc. will be correct.
OK, so there’s my optimistic outlook.
When I think of the huge number of morons there are for each intelligent person I meet, that’s when my pessimism comes out.
Keeping fingers crossed.
