Donald Trump is America's Julius Caesar

Every so often in history a man comes along who overthrows a corrupt elite and resets the political establishment. We live in such a time. In our time that man is Donald Trump.

Establishment politicians, media and academics are now all united against Trump’s presidency. They are also all revealed as being more interested in protecting their power and their reputations than in principles, truth or serving the people. The rage of the elites against Trump is so obvious it’s shocking. They know that if Trump becomes president they face exposure. What the public has already seen through the leaked emails and videos has been enough to make many of us sick. What else will be exposed to the public should Trump become president?

Julius Caesar played the same role in Roman history two thousand years ago. The Roman Republic was dying, falling apart under the mismanagement and cronyism of a corrupt ruling class. Caesar was opposed by all of them, yet by sheer talent, determination and good fortune was able to make Rome great again. He brought Rome’s enemies to heel, curbed the excesses of the greedy establishment and restored the real economy so everyday Romans could prosper again.

Trump’s similarities to Caesar are striking. Both Trump and Caesar are expert deal-makers. Like Trump, Caesar was also a man of constant action, clear-headed and politically decisive. He excelled at turning defeated foes into firm friends. Both are masters at communicating directly with the people. Trump uses Twitter to distribute his message constantly to people across America. In the same way, Caesar was famous for regularly sending pamphlets back to Rome to be read directly to the people of the city. In much the same way as Trump, the Roman people saw Caesar as their champion against their oppressors.

Like Trump, Caesar made his name as the quintessential Roman winner. In Rome, that meant having military victories and conquering new lands for the empire. At this, Caesar was unparalleled. In America today, our heroes are entrepreneurs and celebrities. Trump has managed to make himself the king of both.

Like Julius Caesar, Trump has exploded onto the stage of history at a time of economic turmoil, civil unrest, falling moral standards and a sense of widespread decline. There is a yawning gap between the official version of reality put forward by the establishment media and people’s everyday experiences. Americans know that things have been going wrong now for a very long time, and that their rulers are not representing their interests. Trump did not create these conditions. Instead he is the man of the hour, riding a wave of popular revolt perhaps to the White House itself.

Events which were unthinkable ten years ago are today everyday headlines that barely raise an eyebrow. Many of us can feel that there is a madness rising up in the world. After eight years of a supposedly post-racial president, there is today the risk of a race war breaking out in America. Despite the growing threat of Islamic terrorism, Hillary Clinton has indicated that she will greatly increase Muslim immigration from Middle Eastern war zones should she become president. Her performance during the second presidential debate also revealed clearly that her strategy for winning the White House involves creating a dangerous war climate against nuclear-armed Russia.

All of these frightening developments have been driven by a Democratic party elite which is being revealed as completely lawless. The ongoing revelations by WikiLeaks of insider emails and other leaks are showing us an inner circle around the Clintons which is corrupt, dishonest and ruthless. What is most disturbing is that this crooked culture seems to have its tentacles across the entire American ruling establishment.

The current political class has encouraged divisions inside and outside America to further their own ends. Rather than demonstrating true leadership and seeking to unify and pacify the nation and the world, today’s ruling elite have sought to divide, conquer and plunder instead.

Like Caesar, Trump has become a lightning rod for the growing discontent of the American people. Romans during the Late Republic were also fed up with a deadbeat economy which relied upon the indebtedness of the many to fund the luxuries of the few. Caesar’s solution was to grant partial amnesty on all debts to revitalize the economy by freeing up capital for enterprise. It was this move against the interests of the bankers which, more than any other, probably led to his assassination.

Caesar’s assassins were the oligarchs and politicians themselves. These men belonged to an exclusive club which was accustomed to running the government for their own benefit. Like in America, families had formed political understandings to guarantee turn-taking and political dynasties. Caesar instead brought with him talented outsiders, and preferred merit to privilege when deciding promotions. This enraged his fellow aristocrats.

The root of Caesar’s appeal to everyday Romans was his success at overturning the corrupt political system and restoring the fortunes of the Roman middle class. Tired of seeing that the scales were always tipped against them, the common people of the empire saw in Caesar a hero who could restore virtue and decency to public life. Caesar’s enemies attacked him viciously for egoism and ruthless ambition. His opponents circulated rumors about his sexual behavior, and accused him of being under the influence of foreign powers. Whether any of this was true or not about Caesar, it was certainly true about them.

Many Americans can sense that this presidential election is a crucial turning point in American history. Already it has become a political circus like nothing we have seen before. Like Caesar, Trump tells us constantly that his desire is to restore America to its former greatness. This appeal to a higher level of principle is powerful, and the opponents of Trump trying to destroy him should take heed. Caesar overcame all his foes and became master of Rome; in the end, they had to murder him. Even then Caesar’s legacy lived on, and the force for change which Caesar unleashed in the hearts of men proved unstoppable. It was Caesar’s vision, not his opponents’, which finally triumphed.

You are making some assumptions. I have read first hand reports of Bill and Hill sharing young women. These are remarkably foul people. “The return of Caligula” is a fitting title for the Hillary presidency.

Agree. We’re witnessing the fall of our Republic, which is sad but also very historic; remember life was still glorious for 2 hundred years in Rome after the fall of the Republic.

Totally agree. But I am confident in Trump’s commitment to the preservation of the American quality of life, whatever the details.

I don’t know if I’d call Brutus, Cassius, et al, good guys. They were no doubt motivated as much by thwarted personal ambition (as long as Caesar was there, they wouldn’t have their turn as the leading Roman) as they were for the republican ways and values Caesar was either destroying, or at least continuing a process of destruction that began before Caesar.

Whatever the case, it’s an intriguing what-if had Caesar lived to carry out the Dacian and Parthian wars he was days from leaving Rome for when the Ides struck. The latter is especially intriguing; if Caesar had succeeded, and if his plans were more along the lines of permanent conquest of Parthia’s western lands, rather than a military victory and punitive terms enforced on the Parthians, who knows how history might have unfolded with a more Westernized Middle East? Perhaps Trajan’s war against Parthia proved that a lasting conquest was beyond Rome’s power, but then again, even Trajan was no Caesar on the battlefield.

A better comparison would be Horatio at the bridge. Here is my current perspective:

How Can Any American?

How can any American support anyone, running for President, who does not respect the stated purpose of the Constitution, she has repeatedly sworn to preserve? The Preamble to the Constitution states that purpose:

We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Our "posterity," of course, are our lineal descendants. A purpose that is 100% consistent with Donald Trump's call to put America First. It is 100% consistent with the Fifth Commandment, and traditional Western values, in general. Mrs. Clinton's call for open borders, and the failure to properly vet immigrants from lands with very different value systems, is 100% inconsistent with the Constitutional purpose.

How can any American refuse to vote for Donald Trump, who not only understands & accepts what the Constitution requires. He strenuously exposes Mrs. Clinton on issue after issue!

Trump is willing to risk a lifetime of success--his whole career & fortune--to take on a corrupt media, that tries in every unfair, intellectually dishonest, way to cover up Mrs. Clinton's crimes and repeated acts of betrayal, in order to stand for us, our Constitution and our clear interests, on a host of vital issues. Consider:

1. Trump supports and has been endorsed by the border guards. Mrs. Clinton has shown only disdain for those trying to keep America safe from a flood of unauthorized invaders.

2. Trump supports the rights of Americans to efficiently arm themselves, both for their own protection and for the protection of America! Mrs. Clinton has repeatedly sought means to disarm American families.

3. Trump has supported local Police in violent confrontations with neighborhood thugs; while Mrs. Clinton & Obama have allied themselves with virulently anti Police groups--some funded by George Soros--groups determined to deny their law abiding neighbors, the Police protection, necessary to make those neighborhoods safe.

4. Trump understands that making any neighborhood safe, is the key to increasing constructive activity in such neighborhood;--the key to people being able to start local businesses, with some hope of success; the key to better job opportunities, better credit ratings, etc. Mrs. Clinton has shown herself more intent on encouraging and supporting those Soros funded groups.

5. Donald Trump supports all forms of American energy production! He wants to let the coal miners get back to work; to take advantage of improved technology that allows a cleaner use of coal. Mrs. Clinton has insulted the coal miners, by refusing to help them get back to work, while she patronizes them; offering them a new dependence on even more Governmental meddling.

6. Returning to the Constitution--the solemn compact (or contract) that authorizes us to even have a Federal Government;--the charter, that once--when truly honored--made us the envy of the earth:

Donald Trump has pledged to appoint only those who honor the clear intent of that charter, to the Federal Judiciary. Mrs. Clinton has promised to only appoint Judges who agree with her ghoulish view of Feminist issues: such as the idea that it is O.K. for a woman--on mere whim--to have a healthy, already half born baby, killed in cold blood, in something euphemistically labeled a "partial birth abortion!"

7. Donald Trump, daily addresses great rallies, to discuss these and other vital issues; such as the damage to American workers & communities, resulting from trade deals, and immigration policies, that do not protect our rooted population. Mrs. Clinton has avoided in depth discussion of issues; preferring, instead, an incessant attack on Donald Trump's personality; his tone; his supporters;--in each case misrepresenting the same by a combination of lies, cherry picked but misleading data, gross exaggerations, and citations of spurious media smears, engineered by a slavish press, which covers up actual crimes, in a blind, but determined, support for the perpetrator.

Under such circumstances: How can any American vote for Mrs. Clinton? How can any American refuse to vote for Donald Trump?

Note further: There are thousands of organizations, some Faith based (both evangelical & social); some secular, but ideological; some based on Humanist arrogance (Return To Babel). Among them there is something to represent just about any imagined human interest. Our written Constitution is the sole organizational effort focused solely on the interests of the rooted American. How dare any American betray or trivialize our organization; the Constitutional Republic, as it was intended by the Fathers, who won it for their posterity?! How can any American refuse to vote for Donald Trump?

May the living God Bless all those who understand what is truly at stake!

Actually, if any one person killed "the floundering republic", it would be Sulla, not Caesar.

Sulla's ended the republic, in spite of reforms he thought would save it, because he made it clear the military (and hence the wealthy generals whose legions were loyal to them, not to the Republic) was in charge of Rome.

As Pompey is quoted as saying, "If Sulla could, why can't I", and don't forget that Pompey was one of Caesar's backers who made it possible for Caesar to become powerful enough to seize power.

All Caesar did was openly shatter the illusion of a republic the wealthy depended on to hide fact that the republic had been dead as anything except an elaborate hoax for quite a while.

Trump may or may not be Sulla although I personally believe he's a lot more like Tiberius Gracchus, but he's no Julius Caesar.

Caesar was one of the bad guys, not "THE", bad guy and one of "the bad guys" was going to do pretty much the same as he did within at best a decade.

Without a doubt, though, he'd have never gotten the chance to be such a "bad guy" had it not been for Pompey. By the time Caesar made his move, the question boils down to whether or not Pompey would have been any better and whether Octavian would have risen to the top if Pompey rather than Caesar had struck first.

The "great man" theory points to individuals when reality points to the powerful and wealthy who back individuals willing to do their bidding. That the backers sometimes, or often, lose control of those they back doesn't change the fact that without their efforts those individuals wouldn't rise to the level where their becoming independent actors alters history.

As Caesar and his army crossed the Rubicon river into Northern Italy, he is said to have made this statement. From what I’ve seen of Caesar in his writings and those of his contemporaries, it was probably as scripted as Hillary’s statements. Caesar was big on PR. The difference is that Caesar loved his country and his people, and they loved him - Hillary’s exact opposite.

If Trump takes that step, and the die is cast, I will stand on the side of freedom and of the Constitution of the United States of America. I hope that side will be the majority, but even if it’s just 3%, that can be enough. I expect the next decade to get very ugly, possibly as soon as three weeks from tomorrow, but certainly within eight years and a month. I pray that I’m wrong.
