Her position likely brought approving nods from her family and friends. She could pick and choose what university to finish at or what grad school or law school to attend. She may not have been qualified to finish but she would have had doors opened for her.
In fact, she was undeserving of a prestigious White House internship having been awarded one via efforts of family connections. She was innocent but not all of her family members were.
But a 19-year old girl is still a teen, not far removed from childhood and one day she finds herself looked upon by the most powerful man in the world to whom she must submit herself sexually in private. The alternative is to be publically humiliated by having lost her prestigious position and future on some unjust pretext such as ‘incompetence’, ‘poor work ethic or attitude’, etc.
The young kid took a chance that what she was prodded to do would never be known to anyone. She kept the blue dress because it would serve to remind her of a decision she was forced to make that would define her life and future. She may have cried when looking at that dress as the memory would overwhelm her. Keeping the blue dress showed she had a conscience or at least a symbolic memory of her shattered innocence.
Monica may or may not deserve our sympathy but no child, no person, should ever be put in such a horrible disgusting situation. What is even more disgusting is Bill Clinton is still standing in the public limelight with his lecherous character ready to grab power yet again.
