Evan McMullin: There's nothing wrong with GOP except racism
The Washington Examiner ^ | October 12, 2016 | Byron York

Posted on 10/13/2016 4:39:52 AM PDT by kevcol

Evan McMullin's improbable third-party presidential campaign received a boost Wednesday with the release of a new poll of McMullin's home state, Utah, showing him just four points behind Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. It was amazing enough that pollsters from the Salt Lake City-based firm Y2 Analytics found the Republican and Democratic candidates tied at 26 percent in one of the nation's reddest states. But it was downright astonishing that an unknown like McMullin could be hot on their heels with 22 percent.
.
.
.
McMullin believes the Republican Party is rife with racism. "That's the problem," he said simply. He has few, if any, ideas to change GOP policies, but he believes it is imperative that the party change its tone. And he thinks he is the candidate who can do it, or at least begin to do it.

So true.

An increasing number of police shootings are non-white cop shooting non-white perp; this should be expected as we become a non-white country with laws that practically forbid the hiring of white men in the public sector.

Persons with conservative values will do well to consider what a vote for a third party or abstaining from voting will accomplish. Either choice will make it more likely that the Democratic Party will occupy the White House for the nest 4 or 8 years.
In addition to the specifics mentioned in the American Thinker today, electing a Democrat will guarantee that the “fundamental transformation” of America proclaimed by Obama will be completed. Amoral Democrats openly embrace conduct that is considered “immoral” by many Republicans. Turning away from the Republican nominee may assist the Democrats to further erode the constitution, complete the bankruptcy of America, further reduce its influence internationally and complete the redefinition of “evil” in public life into “good.”
Despite our disgust with reports of previous statements and actions (much of it unproven), Republicans should recall that their party punishes public officials who disgrace them, (eg Nixon) while Democrats embrace what many consider to be overt impropriety (the deleted emails for example). The Republican nominee must know that if he becomes president and takes improper action, he will become another Nixon. To the contrary, many expect that the Democratic nominee will persist in the deceptions and dishonesty that have characterized her days in public service.
While I cannot accept the belated reported raucous conduct of the Republican nominee, I will just hold my nose and vote for him. It is the only choice I have in helping to keep the country free, the constitution to be preserved, the courts to not become any more corrupt and to see America’s standing in the world re-established. Following any path that would even inadvertently assist HeR to ascend to the presidency is, in my judgment, the most traitorous action any Freedom-loving American can take.

Oh that is ironic considering he is a member of a church that denied blacks salvation until 1978.

Its not, it was done by the Mormon owned Deseret News and Mormons vote based on what the Church says. I know a lot of Mormons in Utah (had a ministry to Mormons) and most are behind McMullin. Its the exmo’s who are supporting Trump or Hillary.

I will take that bet. I lived there and I spent most of the last 2 years there. Trump may squeak by but I bet he will get less than 45% and McMcullin will get at least 20%.

Freep donation on the table?

racism? lots of residual racism in the lds church following the 1978 ‘revelation’ that reversed the lds doctrine of denying blacks the priesthood. . . . .

Either that or I’ll buy you a pretzel and beer at Grand Central Terminal. I commute out of there every day so that will be easy. You just have to be in New York City someday.

Let me see if I have this right: A guy FROM THE MORMON CHURCH is worried the GOP is racist?

2 Nephi 5:21

“And the Lord had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.”
