I owned 2 Bugs and used to work on them myself at age 18-25. Before that I owned an MG and worked on it.

I know at least one millennial guy, my-nephew-in law, can rebuild tractor engines, replace all the plumbing in a bathroom, and make his own black-powder hunting rifle in his shop. He teaches US history the eighth-graders in Connecticut.

I used to rebuild auto engines, but these new fangled ones are beyond me!

I had a bit of nostalgia lose fire out in the street in front of my house last week. Poor guy in a 1977 Ford full-size pick-'em-up.

Tried to figure out what was wrong. He was getting fuel, and air, so we pulled a plug (he was surprised I had the right plug socket), and tested it to see if it was getting spark. I'd have put my timing light on it, but the last time I saw it, I think my dad was putting it in his car to take back to Idaho, so we just pulled the plug and grounded it.

It was a bit black and crusty, so he cleaned it off, and put it back in. The truck fired right up. We agreed he was running rich and had oil getting past his rings.

Don't get to do that much these days.

I did replace the radinator on my Honda CR-V, though, took me a couple of hours, as them cars ain't designed for guys with hands as big as mine to be workin' on 'em. It only failed because something hit it while I was driving down the road.

Great I will give it a try, nothing more annoying than peeling hard boiled eggs and half the egg coming off with the shell.

My 17 year old son answered yes to all except wiring a plug. I think he’s done it but he was only 6 when he did it and doesn’t remember.

I was a late bloomer for electrical-related things, and was 25 the first time I'd done it. I trusted my dad when he said the breaker was off.

I learned two lessons that day.

"And, surprisingly, newer technology leaves many stumped as well, with 23 per cent admitting they can’t use a washing machine while 41 per cent wouldn’t know how to connect a blu-ray player to a TV. Many of those surveyed by Poundland also admitted they couldn’t hang a picture, put a new washer in a dripping tap, decorate a room or iron a shirt or blouse.

I can understand not knowing how to decorate a room, that takes some design acumen. I also understand not knowing how to iron a shirt since most are wrinkle free nowadays. It's all mostly wash & wear. Oh wait, they can't operate a washing machine.

The rest is just sad, especially can't hang a picture. Have you ever watched the segment Jay-Walking on the Tonight Show when Jay was there? Probably 4 our of 5 college students couldn't answer grade school questions. There is currently a segment on some show that does the same thing and the millennials constantly epic fail.

They are a lost generation and getting worse from the Campuses of Indoctrination. Generation X isn't much better. I believe that most of Trump's supporters are the Boomers - the last generation who understand self-reliance, self-accountability, and what made America the greatest society and the most copied society in history.

As a kid, I learned the spin test to determine whether an egg is hard-boiled. If you spin the egg on a table, and it spins around fast, then it’s hard-boiled; if it barely spins at all, it’s raw.

Astonishing——I could stoke a furnace when I was 10-—shoveled coal,opened dampers,and the works.

That's a much better method than the drop test.

Re : Post #89 ~

*Why are you burning through so many trannies?*

HA! I spoke to my local mechanic one day, I asked, “do you guys do trannys?”

He said yes, and I replied, “that’s disgusting!” It was almost three seconds before he busted a gut laughing...

:^)

Lemon juice might be better since it might not impart as much of a flavor to the eggs.

I learned that lesson once too. 30 amp circuit and stupid boss, Sad thing was, we worked at an electrical parts distributor.

20 something neighbor kid was out in the rain a couple months ago, at night trying to change a car battery. I went out to help. I was impressed that he was trying but he needed the right tools, which I had.

If the women don’t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
